PAGE 19. Blyth Novice lose to Seaforth squad BY RUSTY BLADES Last Wednesday saw the Sea- forth novice team make a visit to Blyth and the home team proved that this very powerful team from Seaforth is indeed human. Seaforth opened the scoring in the first minute of the game but before the first period had ended, Blyth had a 2 - 1 lead. The two Mannings beat Radfords On Sunday, December 8, Mann- ings beat Radfords by a score of 10 - 6. Wayne McDougall led Mann- ings with five goals, Tom Black added two. John Armstrong, Ken Ritchie and Don Shields each added one. Scoring for Radfords were Darryl Youngblut, Steve Nixon and Brian Shields each with two. In the second game Hubbards beat Baintons 7 - 4. Brad Bromley scored four times for Hubbards, Brian Bromley scored twice and Dennis Knox scored once. Scoring for Baintons were Barney Stewart with two, John Cartwright and Dave Plunkett each with one. The third game the Blyth Inn beat Watsons by a score of 14 - 3. Derwin Carter led Blyth Inn with four goals. Steve Howson added three, Paul Cook, Larry Howatt and Bruce Mason each had two and Dale Whitfield added one. Scoring for Watsons were Steve Bromley, Dave Errington and Murray Thompson each with one. Brussels sports Continued from page 18 week playing three games. Thurs- day night found them in Wingham where they scored a 4 - 2 win over the home team. Matt Lee scored two goals with Wayne Alexander and Ryan Finch getting singles. Assists went to Trevor Machan and Tom Pearson. Friday night they were at home to Teeswater whom they defeated 8 - 0. Ryan Finch and Tim Machan scored two goals each with Matt Lee, Wayne Alexander, Brett Clarkson, and Randy Beuerman getting singles. Brad Mulvey and Tim Machan picked up three assists each. On Saturday they travelled to Mitchell and once more came home the winners defeating the home team 3 - 0. Matt Lee scored twice and Ryan Finch once, with assists going to Randy Beuerman and Tim Machan. Honourable mention goes to Daniel Pearson, Jamie Smith, Chris Stevenson, Jeramy Van Kevlen and Jeramy Scott for good game playing as well. A good week coach with three victories and nothing forgotten. GAMES THIS WEEK Wed., Dec. 11, 7 p.m., Elma- Logan Bantams at Brussels; Fri., Dec. 13, 6 p.m. Listowel Novice at Brussels; Fri., Nov. 13, 7:15, Clinton Atoms at Brussels; Fri., Dec. 13, 8:30, Hanover "B" Peewees at Brus sels; Sat., Dec. 14, 11:15 a.m., Durham Peewee "B" at Brussels; Sat., Dec. 14, 5:00 p.m., Blyth Peewee "A" at Brussels. Bromley boys started Myth 's scoring as defenceman Jamie Bromley spotted cousin Mike waiting outside the blueline and fed a clearing pass out. Mike took control and made some fine moves to leave the defenceman and goalie lying helplessly on the ice as he scored the goal to tie the game. One minute and 34 seconds later. Blyth took the lead as centreman Ryan Chamney fed a pass to James McNichol who skated down the right side and let go a beautiful wrist shot that was too hot for the goalie to handle. Seaforth fought back and scored two goals in the second period and to take a 3 - 2 lead into the third period. Once again Blyth was outplayed in the third period but credit must be given to this strong Seaforth team who scored four unanswered goals and left town with a 7 - 2 victory. The game was much closer than the score indicated and Blyth really put a scare into this team with their persistent checking and hustle. Another good game from a hard working team. Thank You to the Ratepayers of Brussels for your support during the last three years I have served on the Brussels Municipal Council. It was enjoyable working with Cal Krauter and I wish him and his wife a happy retirement from municipal life. I would like to wish Hank Ten Pas and the new Council every success in the next term.
