James A. Leddy dies
As people were gathering to the
service at Knox United Church,
Sunday, Miss Christine Bush
played several Christmas Carols
on the violin and accompanied by
Lori Millian on piano.
The Junior Choir sang, "The
Echo Carol" under the direction of
Mrs. Allan Webster and Mrs.
Gordon Gross as pianist. They also
sang, "CHRISTMAS". Rose
Marie Young and Michael Bakker
taking solo parts. Hymns were
played by Mrs. Barry Millian at
organ.
The minister Gary T. Shuttle-
worth chose for his sermon, "A
Love That Will Not Let Me Go."
Junior Congregation was under
the charge of Mrs. Joyce Bean. The
"Celebration of Communion" was

invite you to a "Christmas Around
the World" on Saturday, Decemb-
er 21 at 8 p.m. at the church.
Mr. and Mrs. Greg Park visited
on the weekend with her brother
William Anderson of Newmarket
and attended the hockey game at
Maple Leaf Gardens.
Recent visitors with Laura Phil-
lips and Ellen Johnston were, Mr.
and Mrs. Jack Weir of London, J.
K. Young of Mitchell, R. J. Young
of Stratford and Mr. and Mrs.
Wayne Binney of Calgary.
About 33 attended the "Silver
given by Rev-. Gordon Pickell of
Goderich, assisted by Gary T.
Shuttleworth. Offering was re-
ceived by Teade Bakker, Gordon
Gross, Murray Rollison and Rod-
ger Cunningham.
The 3-M Club and their families
would like to extend an invitation to
the "Youth Group" and their
families to go "Carolling" togeth-
er on Saturday, December 14 at 8
p.m. They will be gathering at
United Church. Dress warmly and
bring a flash light. A surprise
luncheon sponsored by the "Youth
Group" was held at Mr. and Mrs.
Bill Seers cabin after church. There
were 65 present for Maxine's
homemade soup and luncheon and
a social time enjoyed.
Top" pot luck dinner on Wednes-
day, December 4. They also sent
out three dinners. They enjoyed
slides of Italy shown by Elliott Lapp
and a social time was enjoyed.
Auburn garbage will be picked
up Tuesday, December 24 instead
of Christmas Day and Tuesday,
December 31 instead of Wednes-
day, January 1.
Mr. Harold Baechler returned
home from St. Joseph's Hospital,
London on Friday, December 6
after having eye surgery. We wish
him a speedy recovery.
Funeral service was held at 11
o'clock on Wednesday, November
27, at St. Augustine Roman
Catholic Church for James Alphon-
sus Leddy of Wingham. Rev. Frank
Dentinger officiated and interment
followed in St. Augustine Roman
Catholic Cemetery. The McBurney
Funeral Home, Wingham, was in
charge of arrangements.
Pallbearers were Denny Leddy,
Bernard Boyle, Ted Robinson,
Wes Jefferson, Bert Moss and
Stuart Chamney. Floral tributes
were carried by Gordon Foran and
Bill Leddy.

at euchre party
There were seven tables in play
at Auburn Community Hall on
Tuesday, December 3.
Winners were: high lady, Jane
Glousher; low lady, Dorothy
Grange; high man, Ken McDoug-
all; low man, Gordon Gross;
novelty, Tom Hallam.
Euchre parties are held every
Tuesday night at 8 p.m. in the
Community Hall. Everyone wel-
come.

Mr. Leddy passed away Satur-
day, November 23, at Clinton
Public Hospital. He was in his 91st
year. Born in St. Augustine on
April 27, 1895, he was a son of the
late William Leddy and Catherine
Redmond.
He is survived by his wife, the
former Margaret Jefferson; one
brother. Raymond Leddy of Luck-
now; one sister, Sara Anstett of
Wingham; and several nieces and
nephews. He was predeceased by
two sisters. Ethel and Lena Boyle.
