during the winter months in order to facilitate snow
plowing operations. Council will not be responsible for
damage to mail boxes or any vehicles parked on roads
or streets.

W.I. hosts Cranbrook
The inaugural meeting of the
Township of Grey was held in the
Municipal Office on Dec. 3 at 10
a.m.
Reeve Leona Armstrong wel-
comed the Council back for another
three years with a special welcome
to the new Councillor Mrs. Helen
Cullen and Brad Knight as the
new clerk-treasurer and tax collec-

The Ethel Women's Institute
hosted the Cranbrook W.I. ladies
with a Christmas supper.
Cranbrook was in charge of the
entertainment. A fun time was had
by all, followed with group singing
of Christmas carols.
Ethel 4-H leaders Beth Earl,
Karen Bremner, Pam McLellan,
Sharon Cowman and Nancy Zettle
were presented with Christmas
candles in appreciation for their
leading of the 4-H Clubs.
A gift exchange conducted by
Doris Jacklin was the closing of the
evening.
Margaret McMahon thanked
the Cranbrook ladies for attending
and Nancy Vanass invited the
Ethel ladies to Cranbrook next
year.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Lowes have
moved to the former Hiemstra
home in Ethel.
The euchre party scheduled for
last Monday night was put on hold
as Mother Nautre came calling.
The results will be in next week's
column.
Huron
librarian
honoured

Huron County's chief librarian
has been presented the Ontario
Library Trustees' Association
award of merit for 1985.
Announcement of the award to
Bill Partridge was made Thursday
during the regular report of the
Huron library board to county
council at the court house in
Goderich.
The award was presented at the
annual convention of OLTA in
Toronto's Royal York Hotel, Nov.
23.
Presentation of the award is
made annually to a practicising
librarian -- professional or non-
professional, who has made signi-
ficant contribution to public library
service in the Province of Ontario.
H. King, after which a By-Law was
passed to employ Bradley Knight
as Clerk-Treasurer and Tax Collec-
tor for the Township of Grey, who
was then sworn into Office.
General accounts in the amount
of $235,434.00 and Road accounts
in the amount of $10,917.00 were
approved. Applications for dog
catcher for the township were
opened and Mr. Douglas Elliott's
application was accepted.
It was approved that Deputy
Reeve Lyle Pettapiece and Clerk
Brad Knight attend the R.O.M.A.
seminar in toronto in February.
The meeting adjourned to meet
again December 16 at 10 a.m.
