Beep-beep for health inspectors, Board of Health decides

The Huron County Board of
Health has authorized the pur-
chase of four paging units from
McLean Hunter Paging Ltd. for
use by its inspection staff, accord-
ing to a report made Thursday to
county council at the court house in
Goderich.
The report stated that tests
conducted overthe past several
months have shown that ability to
contact the inspector while in the
work area is a "definite advantage
Students from East Wawanosh
Public School walked off with most
of the prizes (and the prize money)
at the 65th annual Belgrave, Blyth
and Brussels School Fairheldin
September.
Joyce Vincent, secretary-trea-
surer of the fair said the numbers
are now tallied up and show East
Wawanosh taking home nearly
twice as much prize money as Blyth
with Brussels far behind.
Overall winners are:
School Work: High Girl, Kelly
Cook, Blyth Public School, 42
points; Runner Up, Sheila
Schwartzentruber, East Wawa-
nosh Public, 37 points. High Boy,
Brent Scrimgeour, Blyth Public
School, 40 points; Runner Up, Brad
Shiell, East Wawanosh Public, 39
points.
Overall Winners: High Girl,
Renay Taylor, East Wawanosh
Public, 75 points; Runners Up,
Lane Thompson, East Wawanosh
Public, 73 points; Margie Gordon,
East Wawanosh Public, 73 points.

The cost of purchasing the four
"beepers" wil be $390.45 plus tax,
the report said. Monthly charge for
air time would be $25 per pager
plus a $3 per month service
contract per beeper. A one-time
installation charge for the pagers
would be $25.
The board proposes to issue two
of the pagers for use by its
plumbing and environment divi-
sion and two for the community
health protection division.
Winners of_the $10.00 gift
certificate from Walter's in Wing-
ham for the highest number of
points at the fair excluding the
school work were: Renay Taylor,
East Wawanosh, 74 points; Tim
Coultes, East Wawanosh, 67
points.
An added feature to the fair this
year was 15 silver dollars donated
by Murray Cardiff, M.P. They
have been awarded to the 15
students who had the highest
number of points at the fair. They
are as follows: Tim Coultes, E.W.,
86 points; Steven Marks, E.W., 83
points; Dean Vincent, E.W., 83
points; Mark Coultes, E.W., 77
points; Renay Taylor, E. W. , 75
points; Lana Thompson, E.W., 73
