Blyth Scouts, Cubs and Beavers plan busy winter
Participants in the Blyth scout-
ing groups are enjoying a busy and
happy year with many activities
planned for the rest of the season.
These include events for all three
levels, Beavers, Cubs and Scouts.
The Beavers will be holding a
Christmas party at MacDonald's
Restaurant in Goderich on Satur-
day, December 14. They have been
busy making stuffed toys with the
help of their mothers and leaders
and these will be presented to a
charitable group at the party. No
doubt all of the Beavers will enjoy
this celebration and they will be

Christmas
Congratulations to the Citizen
on a great new paper. We at
Rammeloo's would like to share
our news with your readers.
During the month of November
we have been busy preparing for
Christmas by putting up decora-
tions and having different groups
participate. It is very much appre-
ciated by all the residents to have
The Blyth U.C.W., the United
Youth Group and the ever faithful
Christian Reformed Senior Choir
come out and start off the
Christmas Season. These groups
have distributed gifts, had sing-
songs and tea parties.
We also appreciate the ministers
Rev. Bauman and Rev. Schnir for
coming out and having church
services for November.
Three residents celebrated their
birthdays in November: Ruth
Wilson, 86; Sarah Spielmacher,
68; and Rose Wilhelm celebrated
her 87th birthday.
December, residents will hold a
Christmas party for their families.

On February the Blyth Cub pack
will be hosting the Huron District
KUB Kar rally at the Memorial
Hall. Cubs from the whole region
will be racing the cars they have
made. There will be lots of prizes
for the winners and this should be
one of the highlights of the year for
our Pack. Another big event will be
the winter camp-in on the weekend
of January 24.

BLYTH NEWS
With the onset of colder weather, Blyth and District Fire
Department has been tested with two chimney fires in the past few
weeks and there's likely plenty more to come.
Chief Irvine Bowes warns people to check their chimneys and make
sure they are clean and safe before lighting up a wood stove or furnace
for the winter season. Creosote buildups are common especially if the
wood is at all green and especially with today's air-tight stoves.
Buildups are most likely to form where the chimney temperature drops
as the chimney enters the cold outside air. In addition, many old
chimneys in houses may not be as safe as they look. A little
preventative care can save a tragedy.

With the long string of senseless vandalism reported here recently
it's good to know that something is being done. After a determined
police investigation, three youths have been charged in connection
with the destruction of the flag poles and flags at George Radford
Construction Limited earlier this tall.
A hearing has not yet been held in the case.

Blyth firemen answered a call Sunday night to a car fire in Walton.
Damage was reported to be minimal.
Group Committee will be sponsor-
ing a craft show and flea market at
the Memorial Hall. All interested
craftpersons who would like to sell
their work are invited to contact
Robert Walker at 887-6643 to
reserve table space for this first-
rate event. Proceeds from the show
will be used to defray expenses for
the Scouting groups and their
activities which have already been
described.
