Albin and Ruby Bergstrom of Bashaw, Alberta are holidaying with Doug and Marjorie Fraser. Nothing can beat the aroma, flavor or sense of accom- plishment, when a freshly baked product is taken out of the oven. "Basic Baking" is the name of the 4-H project that members have been working on this fall. They've acquired the basic skills of baking Field trial results revealed The Huron Soil and Crop Improvement Association will be holdings its annual production meeting on Thursday, November 28. One of the highlights of the meeting is the corn, soybean, and wheat variety yield trials report, which the association collects and reports on at this time of year. Last year, farmers turned in over 90 variety trials for corn in Huron and 51 hybrid trials in Perth County. The large number of trials reported means that growers are able to select next year's corn hybrids with confidence. This year the association would like to receive additional variety trials in soybeans and wheat. Please submit your variety trial results to your sales representative or the Ontario Ministry of Agricul- ture and Food office in Clinton. All reports must be received by November 20 for the annual report. Bayfield visited last Tuesday with the latter's mother, Mary Humph- ries. Awards Night Friday for 4-Hers The 38th Annual Huron County 4-H Agricultural Clubs Awards Nightwill be held on November 22, 1985 at 8:00 p.m. at the Central Huron Secondary School in Clin- ton. Any interested members of the community are welcome to attend this evening program which recognizes the accomplishments of these young people. Edith Wey welcomed everyone to the Walton I unit meeting, Wednesday evening November 13, opening with prayer. The worship service theme was the Bond of Peace. The hymn, "Glorious things of Thee are spoken" from the hymnary was read responsively followed by prayer. Doreen Hackwell read the scripture. The offering was receiv- ed and dedicated. "0 God of Love, O King Of Peace" and a prayer closed this part of the meeting. _ Margery Huether had as guest speaker Gordon Hill of Varna, who is interested in World Peace. Business was chaired by Viola Kirkby opening with a poem, "Forget it". Audrey Hackwell read minutes and thank you card. There were 22 members and two guests present. In the copper contest Leona McDonald's side won over Mary Humphries'. They later decided to have a pot luck supper for the Christmas meeting on December 11 with a two dollar gift exchange. An invitation was read from Brussels Presbyterian Church to a special meeting on November 24 at 8 p.m. Doreen Hackwell gave the treasurer's report. Topics include stencilling, fin- ancial planning, sewing window treatments, such as roman and balloon shades and candlewicking.
