W.I. hears about wife-beating DARLENEFREEMAN Darlene Freeman, daughter of Merle and Sharon Freeman, Brus- sels, graduated with honours November 1, 1985 from a one year Medical Secretarial Course at Lougheed Business College in Kitchener. Darlene is currently employed by Dr. K. P. McSweeny in Waterloo. Letters Continued from page 4 for g et the past. I think a word of thanks is fittin g to Mrs. Evelyn Kennedy for keepin g the Post goin g for as long as she did after her husband, Roy, passed away. Now for the future, I would wish you the best of luck with "Our Paper". But as a Christian Ifeel that there is no "good luck" possible without the blessing of the Lord. So we shall keep praying for you as we have in the past, that our God will give His blessing on our new paper. Let us all take the chorus of our National Anthem seriously, "God keep our land, g lorious and free" and let us also refrain from usin g the name of our God andJesus in vain. But instead, use them only as intended in prayer and praise. In closin g I wish you and your staff the very best in the future. May your paper fill any real need in the communities it serves. SINCERELY YOURS, GERALD EXEL THE EDITOR: This is in reply to the letter from Mr. Bateman, Ethel and yourself about whether W. H. Kerr was the first editor of the Brussels Post. (note it's W.H. not N.H.) The McGillicuddy Bros. were editors in the late 1870's in a building which no longer exists, behind the Brussels 5 - $1.00 store. My grandfather W. H. Kerr took over the paper in 1882 the year before he was married but I have never found any clippings to say whether it was that building or the one on main street.
