Photo by Pat Langlois Rebekahs host Assembly On Tuesday, November 12 Morning Star Rebekah Lodge entertained the Warder. of The Rebekah Assembly of Ontario and other Assembly officers and dis- tinguished guests and members of Rebekah Lodges of District No. 23 to a banquet held in St. John's Anglican church hall. District Deputy President, Leona Connelly presided and introduced the head table guests Noble Grand Barb Watts thanked the ladies for a most delicious meal. Bev Cardiff replied for the ladies. All retired to the lodge hall where the regular meeting was held with officers of Goderich Rebekah Lodge No. 89 doing the opening ceremonies. Noble Grand Barb Watts wel- comed all present, a special welcome to the visitors. Special introductions of the officers of Rebekah Assembly of Ontario: musician, Kay Wise; district de- puty Pres., Leona Connelly; ward- en, Sylvia Evans were made by Margaret McCutcheon, Vera Hastings and Marguerite Craw- ford. Each was welcomed by all present. Reports and business were conducted by the N. G. officers of Huronic Lodge No. 306, Clinton entertained with a very impressive tableau "Lighting The Candle." Millie Cox soloist sang, "One Little Candle" and "I Believe". Sharon Freeman and Nelva Scott accompanied by Jean Ireland sang "God Be With you Until We Meet Again". Short addresses were given by Warden, Sylvia Evans; musician, Kay Wise; D.D. Grand master, E. Cox and Past Grand Master, John Broad- foot; Noble Grands of Goderich and Clinton Lodges. The Goderich officers performed the closing ceremonies. Barbara Nichols and her committee served a delicious lunch to the 75 people present. Councillor BRUSSELS NEWS Brussels Senior Fellowship Club will hold a meeting at the Legion, Hall this afternoon (Wednesday) at 2 p.m. A public relations officer from the Ontario Provincial Police will be present to answer any questions those present have. Afterwards games will be played. The public is invited. ***** Archie McDonald of Ottawa visited in Brussels on the weekend and visited with Dr. and Mrs. Sandy McDonald and Carolyn of Barrie on Sunday. Glen Bridge of Brussels recently took part in a very unique card championship. As Deputy District Commander of the Royal Canadian Legion Mr. Bridge was part of the Legion section at the Canadian Council of the Blind and the Royal Canadian Legion Ontario Command annual cribbage and euchre held in Cambridge October 26. Each year teams from the Legion and Canadian Council of the Blind compete for trophies. Two person teams from the CCB play two-person teams from the Legion. The Legion provides scorekeepers for the event. This year the teams for the CCB came from Kingston and Ottawa and for the Legion teams came from Toronto and Kincardine. Mr. Bridge acted as a counter for the blind team and was featured in a picture in the Cambridge Reporter. ***** Representatives from the Howick, Elma and East Wawanosh Mutual Insurance Companies, both management and directors attended a convention recently in London of the Ontario Mutual Insurance Association (OMIA), the Farm Mutual Reinsurance Plan Inc. (F.M.R.P.), and the Canadian Association of Mutual Insurance Companies, (C.A.M.I.C.). The OMIA responsibilities of a director, farm machinery claims, etc. Guest speaker was Wm. Jacobi who spoke on retirement and living life to the fullest extent. A report on the spills bill is among the discussions at the F.R.R.P. meeting and a number of speakers addressed the CAMIC meeting on such topics as financial supermarkets and the role of insurance in the social welfare scheme.
