Cranbrook news
Local people
at Monkton
anniversary
BY MRS. MAC ENGEL
Congratulations to "The Citi-
zen". We feel it will fill a need
greatly felt since the "Brussels
Post" is no longer in Brussels. It is
full of interesting news.
A number from the community
attended the anniversary services
at Monkton Presbyterian Church
on Sunday, October 27. A former
Cranbrook boy, Rev. James Perrie,
of North Pelham and Rockway
Presbyterian churches was guest
minister at the morning service.
Mr. and Mrs. Perrie, Paul and
Linda, spent the weekend with his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. J.
Perrie. They were joined for
Saturday dinner by Mrs. Donald
Perrie and family.
Mrs. Jerome Stemmler hosted a
surprise miscellaneous shower on
October 27 for her daughter
Debbie whose marriage to Paul
Engel takes place in November.
Attending from this area were
Paul's mother, Mrs. Gordon En-
gel, grandmother Mrs. Mac Engel
and great aunt Mrs. Claire Long.
His sisters Sharon, Tracy and
Susan, London, and Rosanne
Burdett, Waterloo, also attended.
Mr. and Mrs. John Saxon visited
with friends and relatives who
gathered to attend the funeral of
John's uncle, Norman Saxon of
Toronto on Friday, October 25.
CRANBROOK 4-H
The Cranbrook Calorie Con-
sumers met at the Cranbrook Hall
on Saturday, October 26 for
meeting 7. The members judged
four cakes and two pies for
appearance, texture and flavour
and worked on their books.
Invitations have been sent out to
the members of the Cranbrook
Women's Institute and to the
parents of the members for the
"Tea" the members are having at
the Cranbrook Hall on Saturday.
November 2 at 1:30 p.m.
There was an attendance of 24
including members and visitors at
the 4-H "Tea" to enjoy the variety
of delicious food prepared and
served by the members.
A number of area residents
attended the "Hobby Fair" at the
Atwood Community Centre on
Saturday, November 2.
Visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Bert
Van Donkersgoed were Fred
Mijderwijk from The Netherlands,
also their daughter Christime from
Guelph.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Stager,
Mississauga, visited Mr. and Mrs.
Clare Veitch on the weekend.
