What's
a silent
auction?
This question has been on the
lips of many "Blythites" this past
week.
As part of their Harvest Bonanza
the Blyth U.C.W. are sponsoring a
"Silent Auction". Articles have
been donated to the group. These
articles include such things as - two
afghans; a "Dresdan Plate" quilt;
two baby blankets; a homemade
Christmas cake; Christmas cook-
ies; a Gingerbread House; an
antique copper boiler and many
more. They have been on display in
the Blyth Bulk Food Store window.
On Wednesday, Thursday, Fri-
day or Saturday, Nov. 6 - 9, you may
visit the Blyth United Church,
decide how much you will pay for
an item, fill out a ballot and drop it
in the can which belongs to the
item.
On Saturday at 4 p.m., the "bid
cans" will be opened and the
articles will be sold to the highest
bidder.
The fun is bidding high enough
to out bid the others who might
desire the item. (you have noway of
knowing what the other bids are).
While at the church, enjoy
browsing through the bazaar items
and have lunch at the Puff and Cup
Booth (Saturday only).
On Wednesday to Friday come
and choose your new outfit at the
Used Clothing Sale. All proceeds
go towards projects that the
U.C.W. are involved in.
