Anniversary service held at Londesboro
An Annivers,:- ,er.'ic.? was held
October 20, at Londesboro United
Church. Greeting worshippers were
Rev. Snihur and Diana Shobbrook.
Ushers were Leonard Archambault,
Melvin Knox, Dennis Penfound and
Gerrit Wilts.
Flowers on the memorial stand
were in loving memory of Trent
Shribbrook
Junior teachers were Connie
Hoggart and Edith Taylor. Anthem
director was Marsha Szusa . Lisa
Duizer was organist. Rev. Mac-
Carson read from the scripture on
"the Prodigal son", and gave the
sermon. Following the service, Rev.
Carson greeted all at door and a
social hour was spent in the Sunday
school rooms. The evening service
was held at 7:30 p.m. Greeting were
Rev. Snihur and Gordon Shobbrook.
Ushers were Kathy Kennedy,
Therese Knox, Vicki Riley and
Crysta Whyte. Rev. Snihur welcom-
ed all and gave announcements. The
anthem was by the men's choir. The
sermon was on the history of the
building of our church in 1898at a
cost of $5,500. It was paid for by the
opening day.

Cheerio Club meets
The Cheerio Club held its meeting
October 16 at 2 p.m. at the home of
Edythe Beacom. M.C. was Beth
Knox who welcomed all by reading
"Outlook".
Minutes of the last meeting and
the treasurer's report were read by
Dora Shobbrook. Roll Call was
answered by 10 members and one
visitor. •

Sympathy is extended to Mr. and
Mrs. Orville Newby on the acciden-
tal death in a car crash of their
daughter-in-law Debra, wife of Jim
Newby of Calgary. She was 44. The
accident happened Oct. 11 at
Golden, B.C.
Sorry to report Mrs. Pearl Hamil-
ton had the misfortune to fall on
Saturday evening breaking her left
wrist.
The family of Olive Penfound
honoured her on Saturday evening
for her 85th birthday at the home of
Lloyd and Vera Penfound, Bruce,
Nancy and Ken. Present were Mary
Mair, Stratford; Mabel McLeod,
Mitchell; Ida Wright, George and
Edith Wright, Clinton; Dennis and
Margaret Penfound, Elgin Pen-
found, Londesboro and Joy Lutz,
Goderich.
Twelve Happy Gang Srs. attended
the 10th Fall Rally of Zone 8 United
Senior Citizens of Ontario on
Thursday, October 17 at the Stanley
township complex. It was hosted by
the Stan Lee Club.
Many attended the sale for the
estate of the late Jim Neilans on
Saturday at the school.
On Saturday afternoon Thelma
Ellerby honoured her mother Dora
Shobbrook on her 80th birthday.
Present were Joan Garrow, R.N. ,
and Dean Ryan of Ottawa; Vicki and
Dan Colquhoun, Chastity and Kenn-
ie; Dora Lynn and Rob Blake and
Curtis, Marsha and Jonathon Miller
and John Cameron, all of Clinton.
Congratulations to Margaret and
Russell Good on their 40th wedding
anniversary. Thirty atttended a
family dinner on Sunday in the
Londesboro hall. Open House was
held from 2:30 to 4:30. A large
number of relations and friends
called.
Randy and Sandra Logan and
Kathy Popp of London visited on the
weekend with Helen and John Lyons
and attended the anniversary church
service Sunday morning. They also
attended the 40th anniversary for
her parents Margaret and Russell
Good.
Mr. and Mrs. Orville Newby
visited on Wednesday with Mr. and
Mrs. Cecil Bowman at Granton. On
Sunday they visited Bob Quayle,
Mrs. Hilda Bent, Cal and Darlene
Baxter, London.
Rev. Mal Carson, Barbara and
Neal of Hamilton were guests on
Sunday of Helen and Jack Lee.
Beth and Raymond Radford of
London visited on the weekend with
her pare tns, Mr. and Mrs. Bob
Thompson.
Spending the weekend with Olive
Penfound were her sisters Mary
Mair, Stratford and Mabel McLeod,
Mitchell.
A draw donated by Edythe
Beacom was won by Mary Longman.
Program reading by Edythe "apple
pie and Two kinds of people", con-
test numbers by Beth Knox, won by
Estella Adams and June Fothergill.
A contest on "names" was conduct-
ed by Edythe and won by Laura
Lyon. Edythe closed the meeting
with "God's music" and "I thank
you for these gifts". Some cards
were played and lunch was served by
Edythe Beacom, Beth Knox and Vi
Burns. The next meeting is Novem-
ber 20 at the home of Laura Lyon.
