Weekend visitors in Walton
Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Clint
Emmrich during the weekend were
Volker and Shirley Hertlein and
family; Ruthie Thamer and Mike
Wade all of London and Don and
Kathy Kuntz and girls of the village.
Mr. and Mrs. Rae Nelson of
Vancouver, B.C. spent a few days
last week with the latter's father,
Earl Watson and other relatives in
the area.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Marshall,
Bramalee spent the weekend with
Mr. and Mrs. Doug Fraser.
Mr. and Mrs. Alan Searle have
returned home from a motor trip to
Russell, Manitoba where they visit-
ed with their daughter, Helen and
Jim Duncan and Corey.
A number of people from this area
attended the Anniversary Service,
Sunday morning at Knox Presbyter-
ian Church, Cranbrook.

Tri-county championship
Walton Pee Wees ball team
finished their season last Wednes-
day night, playing in the Brussels
Park they won over Brussels 4 - 2. It
was the final game Walton needed to
win the Tri-County Championship.
Congratulations Boys.
Mary Anna Ryan talks
on becoming a citizen
The Citizenship meeting of the
Walton Women's Institute was held
Wednesday evening, October 16 in
the community hall.
President, Leona McDonald
opened the meeting with the
Institute Ode, the Mary Stewart
Collect and 0 Canada. Margaret
Shortreed read minutes and treasur-
er's report followed by correspond-
ence. Margaret gave a report on the
County Rally she had attended
recently at the Thames Road Church
Walton W.I. will host the 1986 fall
rally.
The Institute ladies held a very
successful beef noon luncheon on
Wednesday in the hall, plans were
made for the pork luncheon, Oct. 30.
Leona McDonald and Maxine
Marks will attend the area conven-
tion at St. Agatha on Thursday.
Marjorie Humphries will accom-
pany Leona to the Friday sessions.
Cathy Thompson is the new
caretaker at the hall. It was moved to
pay $25 a month starting October 1.
It was moved to cater to the Grey
Township Christmas Party on Satur-
day evening November 30, $10 is to
be donated to the Poppy Fund. The
meeting was turned over to Marg-
aret Craig, citizenship convenor,
who introduced Mary Anna Ryan
who spoke on how to become a
Canadian Citizen, she was born in
Holland and came to Canada in 1953
when she was 5 years old. A question
period followed with Mary Anna
giving many interesting facts of her
life.
Church news
Bonnie Lamble was in charge of
worship service Sunday morning at
Duff's United, sermon was "Served
or serving".
Ruth Thamer greeted at the door.
Marion Godkin was organist. Ushers
were Bill Coutts, Lavern Godkin and
Jack McEwing.
A U .C. W. bale will be packed Oct.
28. Have your good used clothing left
atthe church by this weekend. Just a
reminder to turn your clocks back the
one hour this weekend.

Margaret thanked the speaker
and presented a gift of money, Mary
Anna later returned it to the
secretary.
There were 14 members and two
guests answered the roll call: "What
country do you claim for your parents
or grandparents nationally?"
Meeting closed with the Institute
Grace followed by Mary Humphries
and Margery Huether serving
lunch.
