Chirstmas has passed for an-other year and I hope it has

many Christmas has been tra-
gic.
I would wish. you a most hap-
py and successful New Year yet
I know only too well that by
the time January 4 rolls around
there will be some missing.
Let us all be just a little more
careful in 1959 and keep the
number of traffic deaths to an
all-time low. It can he done.
For the farmer, 1958 was
generally a little better than the
previous year and prospects for
11/59 seem encouraging. Almost
every time I , write one of these
articles feel the need for more
accurate figures and statements
hut find I have to use what is
available.
In forecasting for 1959 I
would say that we can look for
high grain prices. Agriculture
Minister Harkness has stated
that all western grain will be
deliverable to the elevators this
crop year. This in turn could
mean that western farmers may
not be as interested in feeding
livestock next year.
As this will put more grain
on the market for '59-'60, the
price of grain will probably not
increase as much as it other-
wise would. However with a re-
duction in western feeding we
could look for better prices for
livestock particularly in hogs
and poultry products.• Just to confuse the question a
