I would wish. you a most hap- py and successful New Year yet I know only too well that by the time January 4 rolls around there will be some missing. Let us all be just a little more careful in 1959 and keep the number of traffic deaths to an all-time low. It can he done. For the farmer, 1958 was generally a little better than the previous year and prospects for 11/59 seem encouraging. Almost every time I , write one of these articles feel the need for more accurate figures and statements hut find I have to use what is available. In forecasting for 1959 I would say that we can look for high grain prices. Agriculture Minister Harkness has stated that all western grain will be deliverable to the elevators this crop year. This in turn could mean that western farmers may not be as interested in feeding livestock next year. As this will put more grain on the market for '59-'60, the price of grain will probably not increase as much as it other- wise would. However with a re- duction in western feeding we could look for better prices for livestock particularly in hogs and poultry products.• Just to confuse the question a Mr. and Mrs. Almer Passmore, The Fairfield Farm Forum was I David, Dennis, Darlene and Dale, Miss Sylvia Johns of London held last Monday night at the with Mr. and Mrs. Wellington is spending the Christmas boll- home of Mr. and Mrs. Welling- Heist, of Crediton. , daisher parents, .- - ton Heist, with 42 present.
