Why Violence?
BY VALERA LOWRY
Age 10, J. A. P. McCurdy School
For many year I have wished
that there would be no more wars
Or threats of war. this is what I
wish for this Christina., season.
Does there always have to be
killing and violence? if God made
this world and. put us in ii, which
He did, why should we destroy it
And the people that live on it?
It is not only nations that fight;
but people fight among them-
selves, Some people think that
nations should not war when they
themselves are fond of quarrel-
ing.

I wished I were a fairy prin-
cess floating in the air, While
in the air I saw something
moving. It was a cloud with
something beautiful on it. There
it was, the thing I'd wanted so
much, coming toward me.
I couldn't believe it. Yes, it
was a big white castle.
I floated up to it and opened
the door. Oh, what a lovely
castle at was with flowers, fur-
niture, the loveliest balconies. It
had an upstairs with twenty-six
rooms.
I stayed there the rest of my
life, for I was the happiest fairy
princess in fairyland.
Hopes For Sight
By MARGARET MAY
Age 10, Exeter PS
There is only one wish that I
want more than anything for
Christmas and that is to have
my grandfather see again. I
wish this because my grand-
father is only in his fifties and
has quite a few more years to
live.
It is not easy to go through
the world and not even see your
own hand. The other day he fell
down the stairs and broke his
arm.
I hate to think that. be will
not be able to see his Christ-
mas gifts but I hope that every-
thing will turn out fine.
'Friend To All'
BY DEXTER HARKER
Age 11, J. A. D. McCurdy School
My "Christmas Wish" is that
everyone is a "friend to all."
That is part of the Scout law.
Just think for a moment — no
more wars, everyone helping his
neighbour, rich or poor.
What a happy world that would
he! Just like the angels sang
on the first Christmas "Peace on
earth, good will toward men."
Wars would be forgotten, peace
would always be the future.
Of course this is only a wish but
it could come true.
Wants A Bible
BY SHARON BAYNHAM
Age 10, Exeter P.S.
I am wishing for a white Bible
with large print and New and Old
Testament.
I wish that everyone could get
as much as 1 do. I wish they
could get a Bible and some.
clothes as. good as mine. 1 wish
that they could go swimming,
boat riding and skiing like we
can. 1 wish that they could have
a good house like we. have, 1
hope that they get even more
than I get.
I also hope they have a very
Merry Christmas and a 1-1.appY
New Year.
Wish Came True
BY BILL McNICHOL
' Age 10, S,S. 2, Tuckermith
For Christmas I wanted a
hockey game costing fifteen dol-
lars and twenty five cents, My
parents were poor and I didn't
think I would get it,
Christmas morning rushed
downstairs and looked under the
tree. There lay a small present
with my name on it, I opened
it and inside was a jack knife, I
was very disappointed because
that was the only present for me.
After dinner, mother told me
to come into the dining room.
Sadly I entered the room, and
there under the tree was my
hockey game.
My Christmas wish had come
true after all
'Not Be Stupid'
BY LINDA SNIDER
Age 11, Exeter P.S.
My Christmas wish is that all
the children in the world would
have warmth and good. I wish
too that they would be able to
go to school just like me and not
be stupid. I wish that they had
clothes, and could play in the
water and in the snow,
I wish that I could have a
record player of my own and a
portable radio. I also wish for a
learn to draw set. I also wish.
that I could have a ,blackboard
and some chalk. I wish that
everybody would be as lucky as
I am, too.
Relive Nativity
BY MARGARET FAHNER
Age 11, S.S. 5, Stephen
My Christmas wish is to relive
the Christmas story with a
Cintigtmas set. Mary and Joseph
would be standing over the man-
ger. The angels would besinging
praise. The oxen and the other
animals would bow their heads.
The star would shine brightly to
tell of the new king. There
would be quietness while the babe
slept.
The star ,would tell the .shep-
herds and Wise Men. The shep-
herds followed the star to
Bethlehem. From the rich homes
the Wise Men would bring rich
gifts. The camels would kneel to
the. king. Everyone would wor-
ship the new king of peace.
Stop Suffering
BY WAYNE PAUL POITRAS
Age 11, J. A. D. McCurdy School
My Christmas wish for this
year is that there will be peace
on earth and good will toward
all,
I wish for peace from suffering
for all the poor people in every
country in the world.
I wish for good will amongst
men so that there will be no
more wars and quarrelling be-
tween countries and races.
If people would only remember
the -true meaning of Christmas
And keep the Christmas spirit all
year round, then perhaps my
Christmas wish could come true.

'Pray For Peace'
BY DOUG DEMP$TER
Age 11, J. A. P. McCurdy School
My Christmas wish for this
year is one that many will be
wishing for all over the world.
It was sung by the angels at
"The First -Christmas" and still
it has not come. My Christmas
wish for this year is "peace."
The angels sang "Peace on the
earth, good will toward men" and
still we have wars. I wish that
everyone will do as the Virgin
Mao' said, "Pray for Peace."
Festive Hunting
BY MICHAEL CUSHMAN
Age 11, Exeter P.S,,
My Christmas wish is to go
fox hunting with a friend of mine.
We have planned this trip fo
long time: We decided that 'we
needed someone else to go, Ross's
uncle said he would go. I'm glad
because he is a very good hunter.
Where to go and how to get
there was the 'next problem.
Once again Ross's uncle solved
our problem and said he would
sajci mat lie Knew a
place where the foxes are plena -
fel. Be said he knew the bush
was easy to get through.
I do hope this Christmas wish
comes true.

Santa this year and not in years
to come.
Serious Holiday
BY JOAN DALWOOD
Age 11, J. A. D. McCurdy School
My Christmas wish for this
year and every year is that
people would make Christmas
more serious.
Many people think of Christ-
mas just as being a holiday and
getting gifts. Yes, they do get a
gift, the greatest gift of all.
God's son. Therefore we should
think of Christmas as Jesus
birthday and not as a day when,
we receive gifts,
The reason we give and re-
ceive gifts is that the Wise t‘leii.
brought gifts unto Jesus.
'We should think why God sent,
his son. It was for a reason and
this is what we should celebrate,
Receives 'Pest'
BY MARTIN MONTGOMERY
Ago 11, S.S, 6, Wborne
in the pet shop in London I saw
the loveliest Cocker Spaniel I had
ever seen. Be was pure black
with a white tip on his tail and
three white paws. I asked my
mother if I could have him for
Christmas, but she replied that
puppies were only a pest.
On Christmas eve I went to bed
with a sad face. Next morning 1
went, down stairs and was greeted
with a "woof, woof!" There was
the puppy with a red bow around
his neck. I never had a happier
Christmas before, I named the
puppy "floppy."
