Thirty-two members sat down to. turkey banquet. After supper a short program Vas held with Floyd Stewart as chairman. The Scripture lesson was read by Airs. Jack Stewart, and Christmas stories were given bY Mrs. William Rohde. Mrs. Floyd Stewart and Jack Stewart. It was decided to go carol sing- ing to the shut-ins on Monday averting prior to Christmas. Rev. II. C. Wilson took charge .0f the election of officers; ('a - presidents are Mr. and Mrs. Jack Stewart; vice-presidents. Mr. and Airs. Floyd Stewart; secretary -treasurers, Mr. and Mrs, Wilfred Hunkin. Those in charge for the evening were Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Stew- art, Mr. and Airs. Jack Stewart,. 'and Air, and Airs. William Rohde. A Christian Stewardship reading was given! by Mrs. Wilson. White Gift Service • On Sunday morning. a C001 - Ines! white gift service was held in the auditorium of the church, with a fair crowd in attendance. ! William Elford, superintendent' of the Sunday School, .aseisted! with the service. Airs. William Rohde read the story. The Sunday School members each took their gifts to the front and put them in a basket. The gifts will be sent to the mission. at Cold Lake, Alberta. Ken Mason, and Air. and Airs, George Prest and Bill. Brinsley Native Dies In London Funeral services were held in . . Brinsley United Church on Fri- day for Miss Mary B. Amos who died in St. Joseph's Hospital on 1Wednesday, December 3. j Rev. Duncan McTavish of Lan- don officiated assisted by Be. Lawrence 'Turner of Lambeth and Rev. W. C. Parrott of Clark Side Road, all former ministers • of this charge. ! Miss Amos was an active church worker and for many • years was church organist. Surviving are brothers, Wil- liam T. of Lucan, Robert -Alvin of London, Dr. Elmer, of Brant - :ford, and Linwood of Brinsley besides several nieces and neph- ews. The room was decorated with a lighted Christ- mas tree and manger scene. Airs. G. Rats and committee were in charge of the devotional period, opened by singing carols and the story of Christmas was 'given. A film entitled "Village Re- born" was shown. Mrs. R. Krueger had charge of business. One hundred dol- lars was voted to missionary treasurer of church and an of- fering of 50 cents per member was taken and sent to Miss Jean Kellerman in Japan, instead of gift exchange. The next meeting is to be held January 8, 1959. Rev. G. Strome had charge 'of election of officers. The slate of officers read by 'Airs. Smith, Mrs. Emma Wing and daugh- ter, Mrs. Jackel, and daughter, Geraldthe, and Mrs. Archie Wing and son, of Pigeon, Mich., were wekeend guests with Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Hill. Death Due To Accident Mr. Harold Gower has re- ceived word of the death of his sister -in -Jaw, Airs. Beatrice Gower, of Saskatoon, who '\‘' fatally injured in a car crash last week, Her late husband, Air. Charles Griever, born and raised in Credi- ton and who was well and fever - ably known here, died •over one year ago. Their family consists of one son and four daughters. W, E. Oestricher 'Dies In \Windsor William Elea Oestricher who was born in Stephen Township, north of •Crediton, died in Wind - sot' on Wednesday, December 3. He received his education in iCrediton and Exeter and was honor graduate of Chatham ! Business College. jIn his youthful years be served ' as an Accountant and hook -keep. or at Exeter, Chatham and Kit- chener. in 1912 he went to the Canadian West where he was • associated with the Walsh Land Co. in the real estate business in .Reeina, Saskatoon and Victoria, B In 1914. he went into partner- ship with his brother, William C. F., in the purebred Sheet - horn cattle business, also into the automobile business, operat- ling as Oestricher Bros. for 14 years. I Thence he went to Windsor for the remainder of his life where he first went into real estate and building business. Then for some 20 years he de- voted his full time with the Mutual Life Assurance and gen- eral insurance business, lie possessed a keen mind and a kindly disposition. This with his many charitable and benev- olent donations and contributions to various clubs and individuals won him many friends. This was amply demonstrated by the. floral tributes and large atteedance at I his Windsor funeral service where he was better known. I Funeral services were held on Friday, December 5 at Windsor 'and on Saturday. December 6 et Crediton. Interment was in Crediton cemetery.
