meeting ori Wednesday night for
which N,G. Mrs. Ross Taylor
presided.
Each member has been asked
to bring a gilt to the next meet-
ing ta b0, sent to the Children's
Shelter, Goderich, for a Christ-
mas treat.
Ledge members will again hold
a euchre and bridge marathon
in the homes this winter also at
the first meeting of the month
in the lodge hall.
At the close of the meeting
husbands were entertained by
wives in the form of a progres-
sive euchre. ,Prizes for ladies'
high was won by Mfrs. Gilbert
Johns P.N.G.; lone hands, Mrs.
Leslie Thomson and men's high,
Clinton Sweet. A draw was made
for an angel cake and Len Me -
Knight was the winner.
llurottia Lodge, Clinton, will
be guests at the next meeting.

ferred on seven candidates. three
from Seaforth, three from Exeter
and one from Clinton. The de-
gree was put on by the Pride of
Huron installing team.

2 cups mixed, cut-up candied
fruit
l cup cream
it cups raisins
11 cups whole, blanched
almonds
1 lb, finely rolled graham
crackers
Combine marshmallows and
cream in double boiler and heat
over boiling water until marsh-
mallows are melted, about seven
minutes. Stir, mix, and blend in
fruit juice, Have fruits, nuts and
graham crumbs ready in a large;
mixing bowl. Mix well. Pack in
greased waxed -paper -lined pans.
Chill. Cut in thick finger Lengths
and dip in powdered sugar. May
be cut in small squares or mold-
ed .in tiny piper cup's. Decorate
if desired. . ,
There is still time to hake a
light Christmas cake; it does not
take as long to become mellow
as a dark cake does,
Although we gave you most of
the recipes which won prizes for
the Ltican Women's institute at
the Western Fair, we still have
the one for light fruit cake which
we give you now.
eight Fruit Cake
t lb. citron peel
1 lb. butter
lie cups fruit sugar
e tsp. salt
1 tsp. each of vanilla, whiter -
green and almond extract
whites 01 4 eggs, beaten
1 cup sweet cream
3 cups pastry flour .
2 tsp, baking powder
1 cup drained crushed pine-
apple
> lb. ..chopped almonds
3 slices each of green, red
and yellow pineapple
1 bottle each of green and
red cherries
11 cups shredded coconut
Mix together, adding egg whites
last and bake in a 300 degree
oven.

We have another recipe from
Mrs. Touchette from her sister
in California. This one requires
no cooking,
Unbelted Christmas Fruitcake
3 cups seedless raisins
1 cup dried apricots
2 cups uncooked prunes
2i;. cups cut citron, sliced thin
2 cups almonds or' pecan
halves
2 tsps. vanilla
1 cup honey -
tsp, salt
1 tsp, cloves
2 tsps. cinnamon
91 eups finely ground graham
wafers

1 cup very thick orange
marmalade
2 cups candied cherries, left
whole
I tsp. almond extract
2 lb. (11 cups) butter .
Cover raisins with boiling
water, let stand 5 minutes, Drain.
and dry on 'towel. Cover apricots
with . boiling water, let stand 3
minutes, drain dry on towel, cut
into strips, Cover prunes with
cold water, bring to a boil, and
boil for 5 minutes. Drain end -dry,
remove pits and put prunes
through food chopper using me.
