Guides Conduct
Training Course
About 50 Girl Guides from Hu-
ron Division attended the patrol
leader training conference Sat-
urday, October 25, at the Exe-
ter Seq* House,
Training was given by Mrs.
Margaret McLure and' Miss Joan
McLure of London.
Guides attended from Gode-
rich, Bayfielcl, Clinton, R.C,A.F,
Clinton, Zurich, Exeter and
R.C.A,F, Centralia.
The morning session was de-
voted IP horseshoe formation,
colour party and flag ceremo-
niali. The afternoon was spent
in reviewing map and compass
work and singing campfire
songs.
The Exeter Local Association
assisted with the lunch. -

marriage of Gloria June Lei -
bold, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
Theodore Leibold, R.R. 3 Zurich,
to Karl .Joseph. Kowatsch, Exeter,
son of Mr. ond Mrs. Frank
Kowatsch, Munich, Germany on
Saturday, November 1 at 2 p.M.
Rev. Father Kelly officiated and
the organist of 'the church play-
ed the wedding music.
Given in -.marriage by her fa-
ther the bride wore a floor -
length gown of white lace with
matching jacket- with lily point
sleeves. A matching half -hat,
sequin trimmed held her short
veil and she carried a cascade
of red roses and white carna-
tions.
Miss Barbara Moore, Exeter,
as maid of honor wore a bal-
lerina -length gown in pinkwith
net bouffant skirt and short
sleeved jacket. She carried a
bouquet of pink carnations.
George Eisenschink, Exam',
was best man and Clifton Moore,
Exeter, ushered.
A reception and dinner was
held at Armstrong's Restaurant,
where 'the bride's mother re-
ceived in a princess -line tweed
flecked rayon in mid -blue with
white accessories and pink. rose
corsage. A reception and dance
was held in the' evening in Cred-
iton Community Hall.
The young couple will reside
on Simcoe St., Exeter.

Ladies Hear
Missionary
Miss Shirley Preece, who was
spending a few hours with her
friend, Mrs. M. C. Fletcher in
town !spoke of her missionary
work in ,South Africa to a group
of women in James Street
United church on Thursday eve-
ning,
. Miss Reece has been. on fur-
lough since April after spending
fiVe -years with the Evangelical
Alliance Mission or TEAM as it
is called. At present 100 mission-
aries carry on their work under
TEAM and kraal visitation is
an important part of their work
especially in the rural .stations.
Miss Reece showed pictures
which emphasized the fact that
South Africa is a land of con-
trasts in climate, seasons, 'sce-
nery rand people. Classified Re --
Cording to race there are four
groups of natives: black, Euro-
pean or white, Eurafrican or
those of mixed race and Indians.
The main languages used are
English, Afrikaans and a num-
ber of tribal languages.
Curios and souvenirs Were dis-
played'by the speaker. Mrs. Rob-
ert Southeett was in the chair
and Mrs. Ralph Batten ex-
tended a welcome and called on
Mrs. Fletcher to introduce the
speaker..., Miss May Jones ex-
pressed appreciation to Miss
Reece. A cup of tea was served
by the C,G.I.T. girls.

In African Area
The October meeting of the
WMC of Exeter Pentecostal
, church was held at the home of
Mrs. Tom Jolly on Thursday
afternoon with Mrs. G. Parker
as speaker on the subject of
"Prayer."
• At the September meeting
which was theld at the home of
Mrs. Ken Cudmore, London, the
,speaker • was Miss June Deacon
on leave from Kenya, Africa.
Her message was given in the
form of a questionnaire which
proved informative and inter-
esting.

War Experiences
Told To, Auxiliary
With a Remembrance Day,
theme the guest speaker at the
November meeting of Main St.
Evening Auxiliary on Monday
evening was Mrs. Bren DeVries
who told of her experience in
Holland during the war.
She expressed appreciation to
the Canadians for their part in
relieving 'the war-torn area but
also noted that Canadians should
not take their freedom for grant-
ed. Mrs. DeVries was introduced
by Mrs. Albert Bowen,
Mrs. Ross Tuckey gave the
study on Alaska, its land and
people, religious history and the
present church problems. The
devotional period was taken by
Mrs, Robert Tifrnbull assisted
by Mrs. I. C. Cowan, Mrs. John
Smith and Mrs. Thomas Walker.
Marilyn and Kathryn Hicks
favored with two duets,
President Mrs. Jack Doerr con-
ducted the business. Mrs. Turn-
bull and her group were 'hostess-
es.

A luncheon for -the immediate
