cliffe gave a reading.
Mrs. Stuart Shier gave the
history of Kirkton village, read
from the "Pioneers of Blau -
shard". Gifts donated by Mr.
and Mrs. Smith were won by
Mrs. Alma Dobson, Mrs. Clay.
ton Smith and Mrs. Dewar. All
the grandmothers present were
presented with foliages.
Harvest Service
Harvest Festival service was
held in St. Paul's Anglican
Church Sunday morning with
Rev, Millman of Stratford as
guest speaker,
The church was decorated
with flowers and fruits of the
harvest. Two anthems were ren-
dered by the choir.

Cream butter and sugar. Add
flour andbaking powder. Then
add other ingredients. Place
three-quarters mixture in bot-
tom of pan. Spread on filling and
cover with remaining ,mixture.
Filling
Rindand juice -of 1
lemon
1 cup sugar
. 1 egg
1 tsp. flour
3 tbsps, boiling water
butter size of an egg
Combine allingredients, bring
to boil and cool.
Fruited Success
1/2 cup .flour
1/2 tap, baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1/2 cup chocolate chippets
1 egg
1 tsp, melted butter •
2 taps, hot water
Cover with nuts. Cook at 325
degrees for 30 minutes. Cut while
warm.
