Be Repaid
Hensel' council, at its meeting
Monday night, requested Clerk -
treasurer J. A. Paterson to make
gooda deficitof some 890,
lieved stolen from the village of-
fice last year.
Council asked that the money
be repaid on or before October
25. -
The amount, which is shown
as a deficit in the 1957 auditor's
report, is believed to have been
taken from Mr. Paterson's of-
fice along with a pen which was
missed at the same time, The
pen was later found near a tran-
som of the building.
Council indicated there was no
question of the integrity of the
clerk, who has 'held his post for
some 30 .years.
Council authorized the procla-
mation of nemembrance Day,
November 11. as a public holi-
day and agreed to pay for the
cost of a band for the parade.
W. C, Goodwin and Jack Sim -
'mons appeared at the meeting
on behalf of the'Legion.
Following a romplaint from
Usborne Township, council
agreed to make arrangements to
eliminate the smoke nuisance at
the dump.
A by-law was passed setting,
the dates for nomination and
election on November 21 and
December 1.
Fire Chief Byron Kyle was au
thorized to purchase two pairs of
firemen's thigh boots.
E. R. Davis reported on re-
pairs to sidewalks and streets
made during the1month.
Clerk Paterson said debentures
on the waterworks, artificial ice
equipment and public school had
been paid and announced that
collection of 1958 taxes amount-
ed to 89,054.38 with an. additional
82,035.34 being received at the
bank.
The park board was assessed
$85.60 and the. :PVC waterworks
828.25 as their share of the pub-
lic liability insurance premium.
