KEOWN Personal Items Mr. and Mrs. David Duncan and son Scott spent a few days last week visiting with Mr. Dunc- an's sister, Mrs. Harold Clampitt• at Point Clarke, Miss Beulah Holt returned over the weekend from a plane trip to England and Scotland, and spent the weekend with her mother, Mrs. Mae Holt and sis- ter, Mrs, Lawrence Johnson and Mr. Johnson. Miss Holt reports a wonderful trip with favorable weather, and .has some fine pie• tures taken of scenes in the Old Land. Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Laing of London are visiting relatives in town this week. The bake sale held by the Women's Associaton of the Unit- ed Church on Saturday turned out very successful realizing around $140.00. Mrs. Kenneth F1ear is quite ill in St. Joseph's Hospital. Constable Frank Sutton of the OPP is a patient this week in St. Joseph's Hospital. Several from the local Church of God attended the annual camp services at the Church of God in London last week. All cottages in Grand Bend are pretty well occupied for the next two weeks and ideal weather should bring tourist business to one of its peaks. Reservations for the month of August look very prospective. IVIr, and Mrs. John Kowal- chuk have opened a restaurant three miles south of Brand Rend, called the Parkway Restaurant, Mrs. Kowalc.hutk was the former Colleen Gill, well known in this district. Mr. and Mrs. Noah Gill of Port Huron and Mr. and Mrs; Pred Frechette of Detroit spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Henry Devine. Mr. and Mrs. George Conklin of Durand, Mich. called on Mr. and Mrs. Devine over the weekend. Mrs. Conklin is a niece of Mrs. Devine's, and was the former Cora Wilson, well known 'in this district. Mrs. Penton Gill underwent an operation on her left eye last week at Victoria Hospital. Mrs. Gill hopes to have the bandages removed this week. Fractures Anti Miss Leslie 1)ntding, Detroit, who is spending the summer holidays with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Augustus Michie, at theircottage in Southeott Pliies, fell at the roller rink on Saturday afternoon and sus. tallied a compound fracture of her aria just above the ryrdst. She was taken to the office of Dr. Fred Boyes in Parkhill and later to St. Joseph's Hospital, London.
