He lay at rest in the Murdy Funeral. Home till 2 p,m, Friday, May 30 when the Rev. Edgar Roulston of the Lucan United Church conducted funeral serv- ices. Interment was in St. James cemetery, Clandeboye. Pallbearers were Erle Has- kett, Don Banting, Harold, Cor- bett, orbett, John Park, A, M. Hedden and Tom. Casey, Son of the late Mr, and Mrs. Thomas Casey, he was born March 29, 1863 on Concession 7, Biddulph. He was a farmer and market gardener until he re- tired. He was a member of the Lu - can United Church, where he served as a steward for over 35 years. He was also village constable for 13 years, Besides his wife, the former Wilhemina Hunter (Hodgins) he is survived by one step -son, Harold Hunter of Detroit and one step -daughter (Ruby) Mrs. C, F. Mr, Harold Ribson spent Thurs- day and Friday in Toronto on arena business. Mrs. Leo Morkin and Mrs. Jas. O'Shea have returned home after attending the Catholic Women's League Convention at Leamington, May 21, 22. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Cummins and family of Toronto were week- end guests of Mr. and Mrs, Cal- vin Haskett, Mrs, Florence Cunningham of London spent a few days last week with her sister, Mrs. W. J,McFalls of Alice St. Mr. and Mrs, Levi Darling of Parkhill were Thursday guests of Mr. and Mrs, Cecil'Armitage. Not many schools have three generations as has Lucan. Its new faretaker, Mr. W. J. Frost has a daughter Ruth, and grand- daughter Linda Currie all three in the one school at the one time. Mr, and Mrs. Gordon Banting returned home on Tuesday after a 10 -day visit . in Bowmanville where they welcomed their new grandson, Rodger John Banting, son of Mr. and Mrs, Elmer Ban - ting. Mr, and Mrs. Ivan Hearn and family last Sunday attended the 100th anniversary services at Motherwell. United Church where Mrs, Hearn's father, Mr. J. E. Brown, now 75, sang a solo. Mr, and Mrs. S. B. Dr. James Semple of Seaforth was guest speaker and Mr. Jack Olde of London guest soloist. The junior choir also sang. Ladies' Guild The Ladies' Guild of Holy Trinity church held its May meeting in the Parish Hall last Monday evening with the presi- dent, Mrs, Kay Egan in the chair and Mrs. C, W. Hawkshaw at the piano. The president led in the wor- ship service assisted by Mrs. Harvey Hodgins. Mrs. Bond's group, with an attendance of five, led the attendance. The president reported on the cupboards. As soon as the A.Y.- P.A. can get a night the parish Hall is not being used they will complete thein. Most of the evening was given aver to arranging plans for the Strawberry Festival, June 25. Rev, J. P. Prest spoke briefly on the progress already made for the 50th anniversary. Personal Items • Plans are being made to reno- vate and put back into use, Granton's 30 -year-old arena, so it can be utilized for ice and roller skating. Mr. and Mrs. T. S. Hill called on Lucan friends last Saturday. Mrs. Hill attended the United !Church Blossom Tea. Recent callers on Rev, and Mrs. Edgar Roulston were Mr. and Mrs. Allen Harrigtpn, Elaine Ruth and Robert of St. Thomas. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Whyte and family were weekend guests of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Whyte. Mr. and Mrs, George Young are on a two week motor trip to New Brunswick. They left their daughter, Sharon, with her grandparents, Mr, and Mrs. Erle Young, A house on Elizabeth St, was broken into last Saturday while the owners were away for the weekend. A sunt of money was taken. Mrs. Walter Parrell and daugh- ter Shirley Marie Campbell and Mrs. Goldwin Harris of Ripley were recent callers on Mr, and Mrs. Cecil Robb. Mrs. D. Ashworth Granton Native Mrs. D. A, Ashworth, 60, of Alice St., Lucan died in Victoria Hospital, London, Wednesday, May 28, She lay at rest in the Murdy Funeral Home until Friday, May 30 when she was taken to Holy Trinity church for funeral serv- ices at 3.30 p.m. Rev. J. P, Prest, assisted by Rev. Albert Onley of London, officiated. In- terment was in St. James ceme- tery, Clandeboye. Pallbearers were Harvey T. Hodgins, Harold Corbett, Alex Young, Kenneth Garrett, Austin Hobbs and Calvin Haskett. Mrs. Ashworth was the former Mabel Keith of Granton. In spite of partial paralysis, the result of a stroke some years ago, Mrs. Ashworth was always bright and cheerful. She was a member of Holy Trinity Anglican church and the Woman's Auxiliary. Last year she raised a large number of African violets which she sold at the hazaar, sitting in her wheel -ch air. Besides her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Margaret, Mrs.. E. C. Mr. Frest spoke of the anni- versary year -and suggested that a choir room could be added. The new picture of the church was viewed and it was decided La use it on hasti notes which will be offered for sale in pack- ages of 15 by the choir. There was a discussion of a service for St. James Day on July 25 or a supper be held, hut no definite plans were laid. A suggestion that a plaque be put in the church for the late Emmanuel Hodgins in recogni- tion for the gift of money he had given to St, James church, was discussed, An invitation was read from the Guild of St. Patrick's Church, Saintsbury to attend the hazaar on Wednesday. Mrs. Andy Carter is to assist at the serving table at the ba- zaar and tea for West Middle- sex Deanery on Saturday, June 7 at St. John's Church, London.
