A regional meeting of the
C.A.S. of Huron County was held!
last Tuesday evening in the !
Evangelical United Brethren
Church, Dashwood, sponsored by
Dashwood W.I.
Rev. R. G. MacMillan, presi-
dent of the C A S was speaker.
He outlined the work of the
groups saying there were some
54 societies in Ontario. It was
first organized in 1911 as the I
County of Huron Children's Aid!
and Humane Society and was
only changed in 1948 and 1949 as
the Children's Aid,
Its main objectives are to care
for and foster and nurture the
children of our county where
parental care is lacking or insuf-
ficient. He stated that funds. were
derived from parents, municipal-
ities, county grant, provincial
grants and donations.
Its duties are to protect the un-
married, adoption and divorces.
He introduced the board mem-
bers, one of whom was Mrs.
Howard Klumpn, of Dashwood.
Last year they made 41,000 miles,
5,108 visits, 4,602 interviews and
some 2,000 letters had reached
the desk at Goderich court house.
Following the meeting ' the In-
stitute served lunch.
Honored by Neighbors
About 16 ladies, neighbors of
Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Stade,
!gathered at their home last
1Thursday evening to honor Mrs.
William Stade who recently
moved to Dashwood.
After an evening of contests,
Airs. Earl Deitrich read an ad-
dress and Mrs. Otto Willed pre-
sented her with a travelling bag.
Attend Windsor Convention
Mr. Arnold Becker and Rev.
Kenneth L. Zorn of Zion Luther-
an Church, will attend the 52nd
convention of the Ontario District
of the Lutheran Church Missouri
Synod. Mr. Becker will attend as
lay voting delegate and Rev.
Zorn as visitor of the Stratford
circuit of this church.
'The Unwell and its Ministry"
will be the subject of the essay
to be delivered to the convention
by Prof. Darman Petersen, of
Concordia Theological Seminary,
Springfield, Illinois.
About 150 pastors, lay dele-
gates and visitors will attend.
The Ontario District comprises
nearly 100 congregations with a
total membership of about 30,000.
Delegates will be elected to the
first convention of the Federa-
tion of Synodical Conference of
Lutheran Churches in Canada.
This meeting will be held in Win-
nipeg during September. The
Federations the union of the
three Canadian districts of the
Lutheran Church -Missouri Synod
of which there are two western
districts and the Ontario district.

and then without even any wait-
ing, she brought me a fine big
dinner on a tray. Then she gave
me homemade ice cream and
after that she brought me a

A native of this community,
Berman Oke Dayman, liS, -died in
Victoria Hospital,. London, on
Sunday, 'baying been admitted a
few hours previous following a
heart attack at bis home.
lie was born in Usborne -Town-
shin, son Of the late Mr. and Mrs.
Charles Dayman, lie operated a
grocery business in Henan,
.leaving 15 years ago to live in
London. lie was presently em-
ployed wfth the Delaney Printing
Company.
Surviving besides his wife, the
former Winifred Miller, of •Staf-

The funeral service was con-
ducted by Rev. H. 3, Snell from
the Hopper -}Jockey funeral home
on Wednesday, May 28, with in-
terment in Exeter .Cemetery.•

Jacob Messner
Dies In Hospital
Jacob Messner, of Dashwood,
passed away at South Huron Hos-
pital, Exeter, Sunday, May 25,
in his 89th year,
His wife, the former Elizabeth
Plaepzer, predeceased him.
He is survived by three daugh-
ters, Mrs. Ben Price, Exeter,
Mrs. Irvine Eckstein, Dashwood,
and Mrs. Ed Stephan, Mitchell;
a step -brother, Mrs. J. Buse, of
Grnrishaw, Alberta.
The body rested at the T.
Harry Hoffman funeral home un-
til Wednesday, then at the Evan-
gelical United Brethren Church,
