RHONE 31 HENSALL WINNERS AT GODERiCH—Carol Brown, 13, and Nelson McClinchey, 16, of Hensall, were winners at the Huron County Music Festival this week, Nelson won first prize in a 16 and under piano solo class but had to forfeit a scholarship because he won one last year. He also won an award for the boy competitor showing the best musician- ship in piano solo classes. Carol won first prize in a 13 and under class. Legion Banquets Hockey Players The regular meeting of Hensall Canadian Legion which took the forst of a turkey hanquet was held Monday evening. The Pee Wee hockey team, who were sponsored by the Legion this winter, were guests of the Le- gion, Guest speaker George Hayes, 1 of Ingersoll, National hockey League linesman, addressed the. members and the boys on "Hockey'.' followed with a clues -1 tion and answer peniod, with the Pee Wee's firing plenty of quos-; Lions for which the speaker had. plenty of ready answers. Films of fishing and skiing were shown with Rev. Chas. D.! Daniel in charge. President William Brown pre -1 sided for a brief business meet-' mg when the group donated 510 to the Legion University scholar- ship program for 1958. Bill Fink volunteered to be Cub leader, to be assisted by George E. Walker, Jim 'Taylor, ' John Baker, George Parker, and others. John Baker will lead the ; Scouts. There will be a registra- j tion at the Legion Hall Friday, ; May 9, 7-7:30 p.m. Boys 8 to 12; interested in joining the Cub pack, and boys 12 and up in-' terested in joining the Scouts are asked to conic and register. The Legion has kindly offered their hall for the meetings, Festival Winners Miss Carol Brown won first! prize in the Bach section (piano)! for 13 years and under, ands placed second with piano solo 13 years and under, at the 17th annual Huron County Music Festival at Goderich, on Friday. Nelson McClinchey, of Clinton. scored of Hensall, 86 in the piano competition but having won last year, the Sifto Salt award• went to the second place winners. Presentation Mr. and Mrs. Murray Baker , (nee Greta Pfaff) were honored1 at a reception held for them in; the town hall Friday evening. The hall was filled for the occa- sion. The couple were presented with a well-filled purse of money. Presentation address was read by Tom Kyle. Jr. with Grant McGregor snaking the presenta- tion.
