A new ,piano a -rived at Hen
salt Public School. Friday, just
in time to provide inusic, far the
annual .Christmas concert,
The piano, purchased recently
by 'the board, was put to the
initiated by Mrs. Phyllis Rogers,
the music supervisor, who ac -
=panted the chihdren. for their
songs and skits.
A square dance was one of
the highlights •of the program.
It was. performed .by grade one
pupils Allan. Reid, Billy Corr.
Hell, ]Michael Davis, Michael
Hoy, Linda. Fuss, Sharon Lavery,
Cheryl I ousseau and Muriel
Ferguson, Caller was ,Kenneth
Jones.
A poem of welcome was given
by Frances Gilchrist. Recitations
were rendered by Carolyn Cook,
Paul Drysdale,

lowing which nearly 200 battles
of chocolate milk and 31. dozen,.
doughnuts were consumed by
the children..

Hensall United (church decorat-
ed by the EveningAuxiliary
provided the settinfor the
Christmas meeting of the Wo-.
men's Missionary Society Thurs-
day afternoon, The president,
Mrs. G. Armstrong, introduced
the guest speaker, Mrs. Whiting,
of Hazelton, B.C., wife of Dr.
J. E. Whiting of the United
Church. Mission Hospital there.
Dr, and Mrrs. Whiting had serv-
ed in Bella Coola for 14 years.
and three years ago moved 200
miles further north and east. to
Hazelton where the Skeena and
Buckley rivers join, which is
about $00 miles north of Van-
couver, where the population
served by the hospital is about
3,000. The staff consist of three
doctors and 12 nurses. It had
been very difficult to staff the
hospital with a Christian staff.
What would a Mission Com-
munity be like without guidance?
They have a new church built
right on the hospital grounds,
Sunday School, of which the
average is around 40. They have
a choir and a C.G.LT. group,
'J,he borne Mission Board built .a
new nurses' residence into which
they 'moved last spring.
Mrs. Whiting's address was
visualized on the screen. Miss
A. Consitt conveyed thanks to
the speaker for the address and
pictures and wished her, her
husband and family a safe re-
turn
e-torn to Hazelton from their so-
journ in Ontario.. Mrs. Whiting
is the former Majory Pearce of
Hensall and Exeter.
Members of the Evening Aux-
iliary were guests and favoured
with a quartette by Mrs. G.
Hess, Mrs. • W. Fuss, Mrs. C.
Passmore and Mrs. T. Coates,
accompanied by Miss G. Lain-
mie at the piano.
Mrs. C. D. Daniel presided
and with her group was in
charge of the meeting which
opened with a period of carol
singing with Mrs. T. Sherritt
accompanist. The devotional was
given by Mrs. W. Dining, Mrs.
R. M. Peck and . Mrs. W. R.
Stephenson. The offering was re-
ceived by Mrs. M. Traquair and
Miss 0. 'Rapson. Miss Lamrnie
in a piano instrumental rendered
a melody of Christmas carols.
The, business was presided
over. by Mrs. Armstrong. The
report from the nominating com-
mittee was read. Installation of
officers is to be at the January
meeting, also reports from the

General Coach Works of Can-
ada entertained members of
their staff and employees to a
Christmas party which included
a turkey banquet held at .the
Goderich Pavilion last Friday
evening, Officials from the plant
at Marlette, Mich. attended the
party. -
Winners of the draw sponsor-
ed by the sports committee of
the plant included: $50, LAC
Roy Phillips, formerly of RCAF
Station, Centralia, recently post-
ed to England for three years
(ticket sold by Jolm Baker of
Hensall); $25 to Mrs. Charles
Wood, Seaforth; $15 to Mrs, Ros-
alie Bonnett,. Dashwood.
Proceeds of this draw will be
used for a Christmas party for
children of the employees to be
held at the General Coach plant
on. Monday, December 23. The
children will be treated to
moviesand treats, also some of
the proceeds will be used in
connection with the hockey and
baseball teams sponsored by the
sports committee.
Winners of three door prizes
were: steam iron, Ralph Bennie
wies, Seaforth; floor lamp, Mrs.
C. Vanweiren, Hensall; blanket,
Bob Lavery, Hensall.
Clarence Petrie and his orch-
estra of Stratford furnished the
music for the dance,

Beachaven Hotel, Minehead,.

Robert Drew Davis, eldest son
of Mr. and Mrs. E, R, Pavis, of
Hensall, Ontario, she was pre-
sented, with a black eat, as a

in, Miss Elizabeth Burnell.
The Rev. E. C. Mortimer of-
ficiated at the service at St.
Michael's Church; and Brian G.
Bugsley,.a friend of the bride-
groom, was the beat Alan. The
organist, F. Jackson, provided
traditional wedding music.

by the Dorrien Cafe, Was enjoy-
ed by 60 guests, and later the
bride and bridegroom left for
their honeymoon in. London. The
bride travelled in a petrol blue
dress and a navy blue coat with

Lodge Party
The annual Christmas party of
Amber Rebekah Lodge on Wed-
nesday evening was held in the
lodge rooms. Noble Grand Mrs,
William Caldwell presided for
the meeting.
Mrs. William Brown contrib-
uted a vocal solo, Miss M. Ellis,
a reading, and Mrs. A. R. Orr
conducted contests. Members ex -
`changed gifts and also donated
gifts for the Children's Aid at
Godericli. Mrzs. William Fuss
