Clarke narrowly • escaped serious injury last week when he was struck in the face, close to Ms eye, with the handle of the •car jack while he was •changing a tire on the way home from London. Miss Flossie Davey was a pas- senger in the car with, Mr. Clarke. They had been visiting with Mrs. T. Willis in Victoria Hospital. A passing motorist from Sea - forth gave assistance and took Mr. Clarke to the office of Dr. W. Read in Exeter where he was treated for the injury. White.
