Salad Course
A short course on "Salads"
sponsored by the Hensall Wom-
en's Institute was held in the Le-
gion Hall on Monday with repre-
sentative t from. Hurondale, Kip -
pen East, Zurich and Hensall
branches well represented. Forty-
five ladies were present. '
Miss Isabel Wishart, home ecori-
ornist of the Horne Economics
Service Extension branch, of the
Ontario Department of Agricul-
ture, Toronto, gave a demonstra-
tion of side salads, salad bowls,
whole meal salads, salad dress-
ings, accompaniments and garn-
ishes. Miss Wishart was thanked
by the president, Mrs. Carl
Payne. The tasty and tempting
salad dishes were sampled by the
group.

Archibald Weir
District Native
Archibald Weir, 69, of Saska-
toon, Sask., died in that city. He
was born in Hay Township, the
son of the late Richard Weir and
Margaret Moir and received his
early education in the old Hen-
sall School on Concession 2, Hay.
Mr, Weir went to Saskatoon 46
years ago and graduated from
the university there with a Bach-
elor of Arts degree in 1911. At
that time he was appointed regis-
trar of the university, being the
first appointed registrar. Dr. W.
F. Thompson, president of the
university, paid tribute to Mr.
Weir's organization of the regis-
trar's work during the formative
years of the university.
Surviving are .his widow, two
sons, Donald, vice-president of a
Calgary Oil Company, and Jack,
a professor at the University of
Kansas, and one daughter, Mrs.
R., W. McNally, of Port Hope;
one sister, Mrs. Hugh McLean,
California. Mrs. Albert Alexan-
der, Hensall, is a cousin.
Mrs. Joseph Case
Native Of Hensall
The death occurred at Toronto
General Hospital on Friday, No-
vember 29 of Jessie S. Moir,
beloved 'wife of the late Joseph
Case, and dear mother of Mrs.
F. L. Jupkin (Marion), Mrs. L.,
Barnett (Doris), and the late
Mrs. A. R. McClelland (Mona).
Mrs. Case, who was in her
81st year, was a daughter of the
late Mr. and Mrs. William Moir,
and was born and raised in Hen-
sall, where her husband at one
time owneci..a grocery store.
She married Joseph Case in
1897, who predeceased her in
1934.
Mr. and Mrs, Case moved to
Toronto about, 55 years ago
where Mr. Case was .in the real
estate business until his death.
Five grandchildren and eight
great-grandchildren survive.
Funeral services were held on
Monday, December 2, from the
funeral chapel of Fred W,
Mathers Co., 665 Spadina Ave.,
Toronto, with interment in
P'rospect Cemetery,
Zurich Bazaar
Raises $1,500
St. Boniface Church annual
bazaar, held at the .Community
Centre, Zurich, Saturday, No-
vember 23, under the auspices
of the Holy Name Society and
the Catholic Women's League,
commenced at 3, and 7:30 p.m.
with' a jam-packed house, and
was a great success. Over $1,500
was realized.
The grand prize, cash prize
ticket for $200, or an automatic
dryer valued at $300, .was won
by Milton Bedard of Windsor.
