After two' or three .attempts
this year we are going to try to
keep this column regular for the
remainder of the Scout year..It
should be a bit easier now' that
the cold weather 1s settling in.
We'B probably spend a little
more time m at home.
Our .membership is up again to
27 b
o s which w h makes us consider
adding a fourth patrol to the
troop. This, however, is still in
the future. The three patrols we
do
have battling t 1111
are a t g the patrol
competition out toe to toe. At the
time of writing, Doug Jermyn's
Eagle Patrol is ahead by .a very
slight margin.
Five more proficiency badges
have beenawarded to Wayne
Bowen, Jim Sweitzer, -John Mc
Naughton, Doug Penhale and
Eddie Roeloffs.
Next week at our troop meet-
ing we are having an examina-
tion for the fireman badge and
several boys are planning on try-
ing their _despatch rider badge
this month if the weather holds
out. You can see that the boys
are quite active in the badge de-
partment.
John McNaughton recently
qualified for his second class
badge. We now have over a doz-
en boys wearing this badge.
On November 2, Cub Leaders
Harold Sissons and Jack Van
Goozen, Scouters Ralph Sweitzer
and Hal Hooke, and Mr. and
Mrs. Jake Sweitzer and Mr, and
Mrs. Gerald Godbolt attended
the Bluewater Region Scouting
Conference at Owen Sound. A
very educational afternoon was
followed by an evening dinner
and a. square dance. Plans are
benig considered to hold the con-
ference in Exeter next fall.
