If the voice of Hawk:eye in The 1 PL, . is trying to follow in his
Last of the Mohicans sounds footsteps. Norm has the same
familiar to you, it's probaby be- agent as Shane Rimmer, Ken
cause John Hart who plays the Steele, Maxine Ware and other
role was the Lone Ranger on xa- to TV names.
CFPL-TV has been, coming up
with some fine talent on Satur-
day evenings. The London group
known as Canadian Playboy are
attracting quite a following arid
in my opinion Kathy Wayne who
has appeared a few times is as
poised and talented as many of
the CBC's stars.
Nati Lewis who has signed
for a few cross -Canada Hit Pa-
rade appearances became quite
a star during her four year stint
in England where she became
known as the Heartbreak Girl.
Her voice has a haunting quali-
ty and she is at her best sing-
ing a tear -jerking ballad. As
happens too often Patti's suc-
cess career -wise coincided with
the break-up of her marriage.
Her piano -playing ex-husband
has remained in England.
The Van Avera brothers have
already been signed for some
TV guest shots SO you have .a
chance to hear them soon,
Norm Sedawie producer of
Musigmakers' 58, is a great be-
liever in giving talent a chance
SQ he personally conducted audi-
tions in several cities to obtain
guests for his new series.
Only last April Bob McGall
supervisor of variety programs
at CBC -TV told ine that "even if
Pick the Stars should be can-
celled there will always be a
show of that type...on CBC -TV"
Always is a very short time in
television, I „guess because no
talent shows are scheduled for
the 57-58 season.

When 'Mohican' was being
filmed near Toronto John Hart
met, fell in.love with and at the
end of the filming, married
Beryl Braithwaite a Streetsville

comment was the one with the
heading "k.one Ranger Weds

Flu is making its way around
the Toronto stulios. Joyce Hahn
tried. unsuccessfully to "go on
with the show" a few weeks ago
but couldn't do it and Sylvia
Murphy was called in as a last
minute replacement. ,Sylvia did
a good job and has been asked
to come back as a guest on
Cross -Canada Hit F'arade dur-
ing the season,
Billy O'Connor had to bow
out of a night club engagement
and a United Appeal show be-
cause of flu and the Harnei
Sisters succumbed one at a time
to the virus and missed one
Country Hoedown shoty.
Jack Creley is getting rave
Itotices for his work in the Can-
ada Savings Bond. presentation
of the play Cousin Elva. Jack
seems to be able to handle any
assignment well and it's probab-
ly because he doesn't want to
specialize. "I hope to always be
able to do a bit of everything,
variety, comedy and drama.
That way an actor has much
more scope and never gets
typed. Being cast .as one type
too often caa mean the death of
a career," Jack told me. 8
As you probably know, Joel
Aldrid who does the commer-
cials on the Canada Savings
Bonds shows is the older bro-
ther of Norm Aldrid who used
to be with CFPL-TV. Joel is
one of the highest paid announ-
cers in • North America and
Norm , who has picked up seve-
ral contracts since leaving CF -
