Lloyd Drury, 38-year-eld man-
ager of Drury's Red and White
Market whieh opens this week,
is no .stranger la the food busi-
nelis. experience ranges front the
Mary general store to • the
• werld*s largest meat -packing
company. Meats are his specialty
• and he will personally supervise
this ,department in his new store.
I The friendly, dark-haired bus-
Inessinau moved his family to
Exeter last week alter purchas-
ing the home of Edgar Broder-
tea. on Sinicoe Street. Mr. and
Mrs. Drury have four children,
three of them girls.
The new manager's home is
near Chatham where his father
owned and operated a country
general store for 23 years. Lloyd
was educated at a township
school and in Chatham Business
College. He operated the general
store for six years following the
death of his father.
In 1943, be joined the Canadian
Army and served nearly three
years in the basic training de-
pot at Chatham, where he be-
came sergeant in the orderly
room. "I spent two months at
headquarters in •London," Lloyd
recalls, "but I didn't like it be-
cause I found myself saluting
all the time."
Following the war he joined
Canada Packers, Toronto, and
became head shipper in the
meat department. j1 also work-
ed with the Weston Bread Co.
before moving to London to op-
erate his sawn grocery store for
six years,
For the past year he has been
aLommieoartt. salesman for Swift's in
Mavis Drury, a competent
stenographer, plans to help her
husband in the store. She will
be in charge of bookkeeping
nd may also help as cashier.
Born on a farm near Chatham,
she attended a rural school be-
fore enrolling in "The Pines,"
a girls' school. She later grad-
uated from Chatham Business
College.
Mavis was employed by Libby,
McNdill and Libby, Chatham,
for over five years and for half
of that time she was in charge
of the' firm's stenographic pool,
When she and her husband
moved to Toronto, she became
supervisor of the stenographic
pool in the Mutual Benefit
Health and Accident Insurance
Co.
Following their move to Lon-
don, she helped Lloyd in his
grocery ,store •until the chil-
dren were born.
The family includes Patricia,
five; Maribeth, three; Bobby,
two; and Valerie. nine months,

Hall with a good attendance.
Plans were made to have a
euchre in the hall the last Wed-
nesday evening of the month
and every ..month during the win-
ter except December.
