•Crowds jammed the building. to
(also Advantage a gtapd open-
ing bargains' which continue
through the weekend. .
Formerly known as Rick's
Foodiand, t h e three -year -0d,
store has been completely reno-
vated for the opening. Interior
of: the building sports An Anne..
tive, bright color scheme high-. .
lighted by modern lighting.
Large lot .surrounding the mar-
ket has been .gravelled. and
graded to provide'perking _space
for nearly '44 cars.
Feature of the grand open-
ing this week is a novel one for
this type a store. Instead of
numerous giveayraya. and draws
the attraction 4s 'restricted, af-
most entirely to exceptionally
low prices.
Manager Lloyd Drug,. ecpa1n-
iug policy, said: "We be-
lieve the public has grown some-
what indifferent to free draws
and similar .gimmicka. We felt
they 'would appreciate a straight
sale which featured, .outstancling
prices just as much as they
would the winning of . prizes.
This way every shopper wins,
not just a few."
Weston's merry-go-round was
an added feature on Wednesday..
Customers are being treated to
free soft drinks and hot dogs
during the ..opening.
The modern supermarket is
distinguished by large shelves
and display islands which stock
thousands upon thousands of
food and allied items. Following
the trend of food stores, it carries
its. entire stock cm display, rath-
er than keeping some in stor-
age.
A laige meat counter occupies
nearly the entire length of the
rear wall. This department,
which will be supervised by Mr.
Drury himself, features self -
serve display cases for 4pre-
packaged meats as well as a
personal service counter where
cuts can be made to the "indi-
vidual customer's requireMents.
The store offers a complete
frozen food department and a
produce settion in which fruits
and vegetables will all be pre-
packaged for freshness and cus-
tomer protection.
Two checkouts are provided
to ensure . quick service,
Drury's Red and White Mar-
ket will be the first store in the
Exeter district to try Monday
closing. The market will be open
from • 9 to 6 p.m. Tuesdays
through Saturdays and Friday
and Saturday evenings.
