We gat some very encouraging news fromBILL
SMITH, of Hensall, on Tuesday. Bill tells us that Hensall
canbe definitely counted on this winter to ice a homebrew
hockey club. In fact, FRANK ELLWOOD will handle the
reigns as coach, whileBILL SMITH himself will look after
the managerial end. I1 d like to welcome you in, fellas, and
I, know you'll be a great asset to the league. Our two clubs
should produce some of the action that the fans will
appreciate seeing.
LUCAN IRISH aren't wasting any time in' trying to
round up a real contender as BOB WHITE irpulOting the
boys through four hours of practise a week. Lucan should
have a solid club this winter if the rumours are true about
ILDERTON combining with them. Even if they don't go
together, from what I saw on the ice last Sunday, Lucan
will be strong,
".Milers- was a very neighbourly gesture thrown my

MAURICE "THE ROCKET" RICHARD, who hasn't
quite the name of a first class Irishman, possibly put the
crowning touch to his fabul(lus hockey career when he
blinked the light at. 15.52 of the first period against the
HAWKS. for his 500th goal. Undoubtedly, he will continue
to score goals before he hangs up his hockey regalia but
to him the sensational roar that greeted his 500th marker
will never be the same. The tension was there, a power
play was on, and, great player that he is, he rose to the
occasion by blasting a BELIVEAU pass into the lower left
hand, corner of the net.
Although many may not have any love for the LES
CANADIENS (something like YANKEES in baseball), one
can't help but admire the 36 -year-old winger who is /in his
14th season of N.H.L. competition.

THE PREDICTION TRAIL—We got our wires crossed
in the Big Four last week. Although we had only two pre-
dictions to. come up with, we 'fouled on both of them.
However, the sweet of Western Football Union lived up to
our forecasts to help us over the .bumpy spots as did the
Senior Intercollegiate and' Senior O.R.F.U. 'eagues, Thanks
to these three faithful performers (last week anyway) we
tacked on six more, correct scores to our total of 35 and
had to add two to the wrong column.
The Record: Pass Attempts 61, Compiete 41, lncom•
piste 20; Pet. .672.
BIG FOUR Montreal's too toughto beat at home
so here's where they get even with Hamilton. A different
Rough Rider team will face Argos this time.
SENIOR O.R.F.U. —'- Dutchies have found the range on
Sarnia now so we look for them to even their season record
at 2-2 with the Bears. Oct. 26, Kitchener over Beaches.
Oct, 30, London will kill Sarnia with all the rest they've
had.
WESTERN ACTION ---Oct. 26, Esks over B.C.; Stam-
peders over. Regina. Oct. 28, Jerry James will spark the
Blue Bombers over Calgary.
SENIOR INTERCOLLEGIATE — Lookout Queen's,
UicQill is in for another win. Good old Western, will repeat
over U. of T. but in a close one.

So you're o.tile duckhunti
hunting?
Well .here are some helpful
hints that may mean the ,dif-
ference between a wildfowl din-
ner and an empty game bag!
They're supplied by Conserva-
tion Officer G. R. Harris.
Plan your trip for a known
duck hunting area and build
your blind several days before
the hunting day. Leave a note
in your blind telling what day
you intend to• use it.
Arrive at your blind in plenty
of time to get prepared.
,When sitting or standing in
your blind waiting for ducks to
arrive keep motionless as pos-
sible. Above all, when ducks are
in sight, keep your face down as
it looks like a mirror from the
air,
One of the most important s
points to remember: Let ' the
ducks come well within range
before you start shooting. DgQn't
worry about the other fellows
shooting at great distances. Just
hold your fire and. the ducks
may pick your area to land. in.
Shoot when the birds have set
their wings and Tut their legs
down for a landing. The tempts,
tion is great but the extra wait
means more chances of that•fowl
dinner.
When you have downed a bird,
proceed directly to where you
last saw it and tie your hand-
kerchief on a branch or weed
and then circle it in increasing
circles until you find your bird.
Don't give up until you have
found your downed duck or until
you are convinced that it is ab-
solutely impossible to find.
Many ducks are knocked down
each year only to become fowl
dinners for predators many days
later.
If the weather is the least bit
warm, draw your birds immed-
iately to allow plenty of air
circulation until you get home.
Now off to the marsh fellows!
There's a duck dinner waiting!
bines with them.. then they we
doubtedly nous. be considered as.
real .contenders.
Mitchell lied Devils, who gave
