Introduces Study
Of Japan Missions
The October .meeting of the
Woman's Missionary Soriety of
the United Church was held in
the church Sunday school rooms
with Mrs. T. C. Coates presi-
ding and with Mrs. J. Pepper in
charge of the devotional.
The new study book on Japan
was introduced by Mrs. H. Me-
Murtrie in Japanese costume, as-
sisted by Mrs. Coates, Mrs. S.
Mitchell, Mrs. C. Cook. Japan ,is
a member of the United. Nations
and has a population of nearly
90 million people, is about the
size of Newfoundland and over
crowded. By air it is 18 hours
from Canada. The people are na-
turally industrious and hard
working and mums are the se-
cred flower of Japan. The first
chapter •of the study book was
given by Mrs. E. Sproat, and
Mrs. W. R. Dougall, stating that
the church is a community in
which all are expected to parti-
cipate.
In the absence of the presi-
dent, Mrs, G. Armstrong, Mrs.
Daniel took the 'chair for the bu-
siness period. Citizenship notes
were given by Mrs. W. R. Ste-
phenson. Sunday, October 27 at
1 a,m. Miss Palethorpe of Ko -
ea will be the guest speaker at

Car Wash
Members of Zurich Lions
Club held their annual car wash
and realized $65.00 to be used
for welfare work. Soap and water
was not spared in the process of
washing cars and the boy ,s did
