It was decided to con- tinue the bake sales every fourth Saturday and to hold the an- nual bazaar Saturday, Novem- ber 2. The mystery:prize was won by Mrs. Dwight Ball. Hostesses for the meeting included Mrs. T. A. Hodgins, Mrs. Cecil Lewis and Mrs. R. T. Rummell Trinity Auxiliary Studies Missions• The September meeting of Holy Trinity Woman's Auxiliary, planned to take the form of a buffet luncheon to be held on the church ]awn on Wednesday, had to- be held in the Parish Hall owing to weather conditions. The president, Mrs. T. C,.Me- Farlane, presided for the meet- ing which followed. The. Scrip- ture lesson was read by Mrs. Lina Abbott and Mrs. Harold Corbett led in the Litany. Rev. J. P. Prest spoke briefly on the Little Helpers' service .which this year is to take the form of a church service follow- ed by pictures in the Parish Hall, A tentative date of October 20, Youth Sunday, was named. Mrs. D. A. Ashworth was able to be wheeled to the meeting and gave one of her interesting papers on Palestine. Mrs. Harold Hodgins, who has charge of the Study Book, gave an inspiring talk on prepara- tion for the fall work. She named the three great requisites for a successful missionary worker: missionary intelligence, steward- ship and prayer. She concluded her address with a poem on Prayer. The president offered her home for the October meeting with Mrs. Erwin Scott, Mrs. Wiliam Haskett and Mrs. Harold Corbett as a lunch committee. During the meeting each mem- ber presented her talent money telling how she earned it. Stork Showers The members of the Auxiliary to the Legion were hostesses for a stork shower for Mrs. Don Corman's babe; Mrs.' D, G. Chambers was, hostess for Mrs. Jack TTenson's babe and Mrs, Frank Purington was hostess for Mrs. Harold Smibert's babe, Birr W.A. Officers Mrs. William McComb was elected president of the Woman's Association of Birr United Church at a meeting held at the home of Mrs. Ronald ,White. Other officers included: secre- tary, Mrs. Clinton S. Haskett; treasurer, Mrs. Ernest Morrow. The Rev. Smith on Wednesday evening with Mrs, C 1 a r e n e e Hardy, Mrs. Jack Hardy and Airs. Merton Culbert as assistant hostesses. There was a good attendance out for the first fall meeting. The president, Mrs. Clarence Haskett, presided and led in the devotions assisted by Mrs. Kay Egan and the Rev. J. P. Prest. Mrs. Charles Cor- bett. assisted by Mrs. Cecil Lewis and Mrs. Gerald Lewis, had charge of the study book. A scheme for raising W.A. funds was discussed and approv- ed. It was decided to purchase and sell 50 church calendars and to be in charge of a candy booth at the annual fall bazaar. Mrs. Clare Stanley offered her home for the October meeting. Executive Meeting The Lucan-Clandeboye Y.P.U. executive met in the 'United , Church last Wednesday evening to lineup the winter's activities. A weiner roast was planned for Saturday, September 21 to be held at the home of Mr. B. J. Roberts. A number volunteered to at- tend the London Conference to be held at Aylmer, The first Y.P.U. meeting will be held in the Liman United , Church September 29 with Paul - line Lynn's commission in charge. Family Gathering Dr, and Mrs. Jack Dewey of Florida were guests of honor at a family gathering of 25 last Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Park. Guests were from London, Sarnia and Lucan.
