Troop events, last weekend saw.
the Scouters and seven Scouts in
Detroit. The occasion was the
prize for the best patrol during
May, June and July. Doug Jer-
myn's patrol, the Eagles, were
the victors and were treated to a
trip through the Henry Ford
Museum and Greenfield Village in
Dearborn, and the Detroit Zoo.
'Two ears, well loaded down, left
Exeter, on Saturday morning, and
after holding our own very well
against the fast moving U.S.
traffic, arrived in Dearborn about
noon. Saturday afternoon we went
through the museum and about
one half of the Greenfield Village.
One noteworthy and amusing
item to come from the trip is
Doug Hodgson's encounter with
an amateur artist. Doug wished
to photograph the same building
.that said artist was sketching,
however, found that the image
was too large for his camera
viewfinder, so he commenced
backing up, still peering through
the viewfinder. The artist was also
pre -occupied with his work and
didn't notice that .friend Hodgson
was steering a course for colli-
sion. The next thing he knew he
was being trampled into the
lawn midst flailing arms, legs
and pages from his sketch pad.
Both parties emerged unscathed.
The only casualty was the pic-
ture he was drawing. It bore the
mark of Doug's. size seven right
smack in the middle.
We camped on the Ford prem-
ises Saturday night, and say,
weren't the mosquitoes hungry!
Sunday morning we , completed
the tour of the village, and after
dinner visited the Detroit Zoo.
Add them all up and you come
