tolerance; the most all -cherish-
ing and freely -expressed love.
We can all help this blending,
by recognizing the best that's in
each partner.
"If the solemn vows you are
about to take be kept inviolate
. . .
"There is no way to be almost
true. So any vow that is kept is
kept inviolate — unviolated. It
cannot be smudged even a little
bit.
"No one is perfect, and you
will fail each other in many
ways. You will forgive and be
forgiven. Bul wilfully or irres-
ponsibly failing each other is
breaking faith.
"Failure to keep marriage
vows is not limited to sexual in-
fidelity. Both husband and wife
can be unfaithful in other ways;
by nagging or belittling; by
listening to gossip or criticism
about a partner; by withholding
the self—failing to confide, to
listen, to share.
"No other ties more tender . .
"A strange mystery is that
these tender marriage -bonds can
be the strongest on earth. Yet
they are most easily broken ,by
small, habitual annoyances—or
by outside interference. Let none
put asunder is ,an admonition for
neighbors, friends— and for the
parents of young "marrieds.
• "John, wilt thou have this
woman to be thy wedded wife

"I've known many a mare who
loved his wife sure enough, but
didn't seem to like her very
well. He didn't want to exchange
ideas with her about the farm
business or home planning;
didn't like to talk with her about
community issues, politics or
world affairs; didn't offer to
take her fishing or hunting. And
he couldn't be bothered with
trivialities—the cake she baked
for club, or the book she laugh-
ed and cried over,
"What kind of love is that?
The kind moat women could do
without!
Comfort her .. . lend a solid
shoulder for her to weep on or

but obviously, you say? Never-
theless, chronic ill health is said
to be one of the biggest ob-
stacles• to marriage happiness.
The saving trick is to put health
in its place—to make loving al-
lowances without • letting it rule.
