First of all, EXETER KINSMEN MIDGETS, who last year were crowned All -Ontario champions were

While up in BRACEBRIDGE on Tuesday, I
h n lasc ween. The answer a phone call toour convenor in. MITCHELL
asking of we were to play was
"definitely" NO was I was told New Hamburg and
Mitchell were going to hoof up in the semi-final
playoff,
Arriving home Saturday i e night L found out, much
to my disgust, that our boys had been eliminated in
the "fast series", Right away 1 hopped on the phone
to talk to Joe but all I could get out of the house-
hold was "I thought you might be mad!"
Well, the crux of the story is that our man from
Mitchell happened to have his holidays booked for
this week so he wanted the series over as fast as
possible whether EXETER had its. coach, there or
not. Higgins really found things to his liking as his
team. dumped the locals 6-3 in a short 51/a inning
gale and 13-4 in the second in Mitchell.
Now we're not asking for the crying towel, but
LEO NOLL of New Hamburg can back us up on
previously -made playoff arrangements which show
the finals weren't supposed to start until this week.
The point I'm trying to make is that I think it
was a pretty shifty deal the way he worked it espec-
ially after xny phone can. I don't mind taking a beat-
ing on. the baseball field but X think that with all
the time spent in worrying about players, cars,
practices and what have you, so the boys can get
some •baseball, the coach should be entitled to be
on hand when his team is playing. •
Through the regular schedule, Mitchell edged
our local team 9-8 in the first game but Exeter ,came
back strong to take the next two 21-2 and 10-1.
Apparently NELSON HILL, president of the
WOAA,is in line with my thoughts as he directed
Isle to ALF LOCKRIDGE. Lockridge is calling a meet-
ing of the WOAA executive at the end of the week
and this corner is to appear with our beef. Your
guess is as good as mine about the outcome but I
think that before a team should be called on to rep-
resent this- area, it should be made to win the games
fair and square!

BILL WOODWARD, who guided the O,H.A. SR.
4rB" MOHAWKS lastyear, will not be in the tribe's
camp this season as he has accepted a post with the
thought - to -,be - defunct WOODSTOCK ATHLETICS.
"Woody" liked his stay here very Much but he told
us thatthings looked so uncertain,up this way that
he thought he should take the Woodstock offer. As
far. as Bill's thoughts are concerned, ie's rights
Hodkey" in tpwn looks to be going nowhere fast! We
'were told that by July 27 we would have a fair in-
dication what' Exeter was going to do. By this time
a canvass was to be made by four members of the
executive but we still haven't heard a Word. Another
month is off the calendar and' time is getting shorter.
No matter what kind of a club the town has, it should
start building now, not in October.
