Tops Loop
On July 9 and 11 the Lucan
Irish Nine suffered their first
two losses of the season m the
Thames Valley Baseball League
when they were beaten 4-2 by
Granton and 7-0 by St. Pauls.
But were they discouraged: Oh
no: They were back fightleg
with a vengeance last week.
On Tuesday night they got
even with St. Peals for that 7-0
defeat, by rolling up a score of
19-3 in Lucan with White and

Arena
Activities
By HAROLD RIBSON
It begins to look as though
"Old Man Weather" will give us
a hand to continue and finish the
work on the Arena grounds. A
stone -picker will nuke short
work of this year's crop of rocks.
Erwin Scott has two large. trans -
Canada trucks *standing by to
transport same to a western
penitentiary, while Joe Benn has
been alerted to grade them for
shipping, All kidding aside—if
any local person could use sev-
eral ton of rock, they are ad-
vised to tender application im-
mediately.
So now we feel, it shouldn't
be foo long before Luean will
have a .wel I- equipped park,
which is to include ball diamonds,
•football field, race track and
playgrounds, comparable to any-
thing in the province. Just an-
other feather in the old head-
dress!
Cliff (Holiday Ranch) McKay,
who writes -a column for the To-
ronto Star, made the following
comments, as regards the Ever-
ly Boys, who are appearing in
the Arena, August 2 in Lucan:
Quote: "Bye Bye Love, has
moved right to the top of the
Hit Parade as predicted and
Archie Bleyer, the president of
Cadence Recordi
s, s the man
responsible for finding these
boys, who a few months ago made
a guest appearance on Grand
id Opry, and were recalled for
four encores," So to all Grand
Old Opry fans, these boys are
scheduled for approximately 80
minutes o f
during the evening.
Plans are going ahead for the
Annual Booster Nite, to be held
earlier this year, on Friday,
August 23. Several top-notch
vaudeville acts have been en-
gaged and a good band will sup-
ply music for a dance, following
the show.
Swim Program

Revington and Mrs. L. 0. Ken-
:nedy In charge of the 45 chil-
dren. However Should there be
sufficient demand, another trip
towards the end of August
might be considered by the Ar-
ena committee.
This new project sponsored by
the ladies committee of the arena

proximately 75 children have
