Recovering
Mrs. Lorne McNaughton is re-
covering nicely from injuries
she received in an accident at
,her home when she fell from
the top of a ladder while paint-
..ing. She was- hospitalized for a

Bent United {Church, decor-
ated with tall standards .of glad-
ioli, chrysanthemums and ferns,
was the scene of a charming
wedding in candlelight setting
on Friday, July 12 at 7.30 p.m.
when Shirley Marie Flynn of
London, exchanged marriage
vows with Donald Walter Avery,
of St. Catharines, before the
Rev. C. D, Daniel in a double
ring ceremony. The bride 15 the
daughter of Mr. and MrS. Jos-
eph W. Flynn, Hensall, and the
groom's parents are Mr. and
Airs, Walter J. Avery of Thames-
ville.
Miss Greta Lanunie, church
organist, provided wedding music
and accompanied the soloist,
Grant McDonald of Tillsonburg,
who sang "The Lord's Prayer"
and "Because,"
The bride, given in marriage
by her father, was lovely in a
white floor -length gown, featur-
ing a lace mandarin collar, pat-
terned with iridescent sequins.
The net yoke extended to long
lily -point sleeves and fitted lace
b6dice. The full nylon net skirt
over taffeta was accented with
a wide lace ruffle ending in a
deep V at the back. Her finger-
tip vell of illusion tulle was held
by a half-crown headdress of
seed pearls and sequins. She car-
ried..a white Bible crested with
an orchid.
Miss Betty Moir, London, as
maid of boner, chose a waltz -
length gown of turquoise nylon
chiffon aver taffeta with match-
ing coolie *hat. The bride's sis-
ter, Miss Joyce Flynn, Hensall,
as junior bridesmaid, was cos-
tumed in an identical styled
dress in yellow with miniature
coolie hat.
Mr, Kai. Each of London was
groomsman, and John Torlov,
London, and Gerald Flynn, Hen-
sall, brother of the bride, ush-
ered.
For a reception, held in the
church parlors the bride's moth-
er received; wearing a mauve
sheath dress with matching hat
and accessories in white. She
was assisted by' the groom's
mother in a coral sheath dress
with, white accessories.'' Both
wore white corsages.
For a wedding trip the bride
donned a turquoise sheath dress
with white accessories and or-
chid corsage. Mr. and Mrs. Av-
ery will reside in St. Catharines.

he will be in charge of the new
plant there.
Mr. William Hyde of Hensall
will be 93 years of age on Tues-
day, July 23. A veteran old time
fiddler for many wears and still
going strong, in June this year
at the Ontario Championship
Fiddlers contest he won first
prize in his class. This makes
to his credit sixty first prizes he
]las captured in various, contests
throughout Western Ontario, in
addition to many other prizes,
Ile expects to take part in con-
tests in the near future,
