like it was going to rorhp to its
sixth straight consecutive victory

The Senior Intercounty Lis-
towel Legionnaires belted three
Huron -Perth All-Star pitchers in
the fourth inning of the All-Star
classic for seven runs and then
coasted to a comfortable 8-0
victory over the best from, the
Huron -Perth Intermediate Base-
ball League,
The annual All-Star game was
held in Hensall on Wednesdae
night and had no -less. than 21
players from the six -team H -P
league participating in the game.
Arele Meyers started on the
mound for the losers and was
going along fine until the fourth
when he ran into trouble.
All-Star coach Jimmy Hayter
had, to use Hensall's Billy Higgs
and Exeters Don McKellar be -
,fore the Lisowel side could be
etired.
In the seventh, inning Dash -
woods Stevealitfo came on to
finish the mound duties.
Listowel showed plenty of
power at the plate in their one
big inning by smashing out three
doubles to spark their seven -run
outbreak. A player hit by a pitch-

'On Wheels' Program

The second week of the Kins-
men Playground was "On Wheels
Week" 'which was climaxed on
Friday,
Friday morning a church serv-
ice was held at the Kin Park
with children fronl Queen's and
Victoria joining in, Rev. Harold
Snell addressed the children.
On Friday afternoon over 100
children participated in a par-
ade riding decorated 'bicycles,
tricycles, wagons and pushing
fancy baby buggies. The parade
marched to Tuckey's Beverages
where a free bottle of pop was
given to the children. A very
special "thank yu" is extended
to Tuckey's.
When the children reached Kin
Park, a number of races were
held. •The winners, of the slow
bicycle race were Bill Heywood,
Case Zehuisen and Lana .Kellr.
Prizes were given for the best
decorated bicycles etc. and the
winners were Judy Coates, Bruce

Robin Smith, Shirley Wurm and
Pat Cann are at Kin Park. Nancy
Boyle is the supervisor at Queen's
Park,
On Tinirsday, July 18, a Penny
Carnival will be held at Victoria
Park at 2.30 p.m. Bring all of
your pennies and come to try
your luck at the different booths.
Let's all support the playground.
We'd like to remind all of the
possessori of the plaques and
shields of the playground last
•year to turn them in as we would
like to have them as soon as pos-
sible for the *inners of the play-
ground this year. Try to remem-
ber to bring them to the arena
or give them to, Alvin Willert or
Larry Heideman.
Bantams Suffer
Second, Defeat
Exeter Bantams took an 11-6
setback in Seaforth on Wednes
day night for their second losS
of ,the year in the young WOAA
Bantam baseball schedule.
After the local Legion Bantams
scored two runs in the top of the
first inning, Seaforth came roar-
ing right back with five in their
half the inning arid were never
headed again throughout the
game.'
Bob Reith went the distance on
the mound for the winners while
Dean McKnight was tagged with
the loss
Frank Boyle and McKnight
each connected for a double in
a losing aUse while Bob Jones,
Gord Strang and Dev Irwin each
picked up singles.

the Seaforth victory although

with a nine hit
an outfield errorwas all that
the visitors needed to sew up
.the game,
Mirer pitched the full nine
inning game for Listowel and
only gave up single hits to Ken-
ny Saxton, representative from
the Listowel Legionnaires, and
Dashwood's second baseman,
Bobby Hayter.
Kucker had a thre-for-five
night at the plate for the win-
ners while Maltby, Dickey; Dub -
rick and Fister each had singles.
In all, the four Huron -Perth
pitchers gave up seven hits,
seven walks, had nine strikeouts
and hit one batter.
Throwing his two -hitter, Mirer
breezed a third strike past, 10
batters and allowed five men to
reach first base on walks.

Bob Parkinson scored Mitchell-

ond base.
