Dashwood Dirt Daubers • The garden club with their leader, Mrs, Erwin Rader, held their June meeting at the home of Katherine Rader. Before opening the meeting, the girls visited Katherine's garden and had a• demonstration on thinning turnips. The. president opened the meeting+aand the roll call was answered by naming a vege- table that had been thinned. The leader discussed vegeta- ble diseases and weeds and in- secticides. Successive plantings were discussed, also value 'of' vegetables in the diet stressing Canada's food rules and what to look for in choosing vegeta_ bles, ,Home assignments were to garden. to bring record book up to date, start reference file, prepare and• serve other vegeta- bles from the garden and plan a family meal including two vegetables from the garden.
