Install Husband, Wife
Kin Group Presidents
Mr, and Mrs. Irvine Arm-
strong, Edward street, were in-
stalled .as presidents of Exeter
Kinsmen and Exeter Iiinette
clubs Thursday night.
The eeremony marked the first
time the officers of both clubs
were installed jointly and it al-
so marks the first year that a
husband and wife have become
presidents in the same year.
To add to the uniqueness of
the occasion, the installation was
the first official act of Deputy
Governor Les Parker, who is
the first Exeter Kinsmen to be
elected to a. district post.
Kinette officers installed in-
cluded Mrs. Lloyd Ford, vice-
president; Mrs, Les Parker, sec-
retary; Mrs, Ray Frayne, treas-
urer; Mrs. Sheldon Wein. reg-
istrar; and Mrs. Jack Cough-
lin, bulletin editor,
On the Kinsmen executive are
Cord Baynham and Cal Wein,
vice-presidents; Don Robertson,
secretary, Ron Patison, treasur-
er; Jack Coughlin, registrar;
.Cliff Quance, Ray Wuerth and
Ross Haugh, directors; Don
Sontlicott, bulletin editor, ,
Kinsmen eomtnittee chairmen
include: Bud Preszcator. serv-
ice and playground; Lou Bailey,
program and house; Lloyd Ford,

Plans for the club's Dominion
Day Celebration were discussed.
Log rolling and canoe fighting
contests will be held at River-
view Park to provide excite-
ment during the barbecue and
a dance will be held in Exeter
arena later in the evening.
Service chairman Ralph Gent-
tner reported that six supervis-
ors have been hired to this sum-
mer's playground under Recrea-
tion Director Larry Heideman.
For the first time in three
years, supervision will be pro-
vided for Queen's Park, Exeter
north. There will be one super-
visor in each of Riverview, Vic-
toria and Queen's park, and
three at the Community park.
Assistant Recreation Director
Alvin Willert will help with this
year's program.

Enjoy Bus Tours
Pupils. of Grade 8 Exeter Pub-
lic School enjoyed a bus trip to
Niagara Falls- and nearby 'his-
toric sites on Monday,' They were
accompanied by their teacher,
Principal A. B, Idle and Mrs.
Andrew Hamilton.
Today (Thursday) pupils of
.Gracre- 5 will visit Goderich es-
corted by their teacher, Mrs.
Clifford Jory and Mr. Ron Heim-

Alfred Collier
.A resident of the village of
Kirkton since 1920 Alfred Col-
lier a native of Survey, England
died in St. Marys Memorial Hos-
pital on Tuesday, June 18 in his
64th year.
Mr. Collier served in the Im-
perial Army in World War 1
from 1915 to 1918, came to Can-
ada in 1920 and was employed
in Mr. Alf Paul's butcher shop.
A few'years later he took over
the Kirkton business from Mr.
Paul. .
In 1929 he was married to Do-
rothy Bailey of Winchelsea who
survives him as well as one
daughter, (Grace), Mrs. Clay-
ton Ross of London, and his
mother, three brothers and a
sister in England.
The deceased attended St.
Paul's 'Anglican church and was
a member of the Exeter branch
of the Canadian Legion.
The funeral service was held
from the Marriott funeral home,
St. Marys on Friday. Interment
was in .Kirkton Anglican ceme-
tery.

On Wednesdly the teacher and
pupils of Kirkton school S.S. No.
11 held open house for the par-
ents and friends of the section.
A program was presented by
the children including a play
• "Builders of Canada". The year's
work of the pupils was on dis-
play.
Guest speaker was Mr. Yung
Yune at present an engineering
chemist at St. Marys who spoke
on his homeland Korea, Lunch
was served by the -pupils.

Suffers Fracture
When Swing Falls
Bobby Beaver, twin son of
Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Beavers, met
with an unfortunate accident at
their summer cottage, Drysdale,
on Saturday,

up on a neighbor's lawn toppled
over and the iron caught Bobby
in the nape of the neck, causing
a deep gash requiring stitches,
a slight concussion and fracture.
He was 5 patient at South Huron
Hospital for three days and is
now recuperating at his home.

The pupils .of the Base Line
school had an outing on Monday
when -they motored to Goderich
to spend the day. They visited
the museum, Shaeffer Pen Co.,
