Graduate To Mission ......Band Members of the Baby Band, andtheist mothers,were special guests of the Woman's Mission- -ary Society at the .annual party held ;in the Hensall United Church, Thursday afternoon. There was an attendance of approximately 130 including some 60 members of the Baby Band. Baskets of flowers, colored balloons and evergreens formed the floral decorations. Mrs. George Arin- atrong extended a welcome. and Mrs, C. D. Daniel took the chair. In the graduation exercises a' class of 16 graduated frons the Baby Band to the Mission Band Pamela Taylor, Keith Russell, Stephen Faber, Janie Smith, Murray Walker, Donna Lynn Forrest, Nancy E. Forrest, Wes- ley Dignan, Janet Armstrong, Beverly Clark. Margaret Allan, Frederick Elder, Mary Ellen Mock, Kenneth Ferguson, Eliza. beth Cook and William Munn. Brenda Smillie gave the wel- come to the graduation class and Mrs. C. Christie spoke. Nancy. Kyle, Ann ]Mickle and Susanne Rannie sang, accom- panied by Mrs. L. Mickle who played for the graduation 'exer- cises. Mrs. George Hess, past superintendent, presented di- plomas. A film on Korean chil- dren, was shown by Rev, C. D. Daniel, with Mrs. E. Rowe as narrator. Baby Band superintendents are Mrs. C. D, Daniel and Miss M. Ellis. Personal Items Miss Shirley Flynn of London was a weekend visitor with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Flynn. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Bell of Windsor were recent visitors with the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. R. Bell. Mr. and Mrs. Creighton and daughter of Hespeler, former residents of Hensall, visited with Mr. and Mrs.Fisher and family on Saturday. _ Miss Maja Roobal, nurse -in - training at Victoria Hospital spent the .past two weeks holi- daying with her parents, Mr. and Mrs, S. Roobal, Mrs. Alberta MacBeath was a. weekend 'visitor 'with Mr.. and Mrs. .Gordon Heard in London. Mrs. Basil Fuller, Flint, Mich.; Mrs. Louise Gilbert and Miss Donna Gilbert, London visited recently with Mr. and Mrs. A. Orr. Mr. and Mrs. Jim White and Jenny, of Aurora, Mr. and Jfrs. Bill Wayne and family of ur- lington, were weekend visitors with Mrs. Violet Schwalm. Mr. and Mrs. George Thomp- son and daughters, Hilary and Penny, of^ London, England, are visiting with the former.'s sister; and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. C. Fiford and family. Mr. and Mrs. Thompson expect to remain permanently in Canada. Mr. • and Mrs. Harry Clark and Cathy of Byron visited on Sunday. with Mr. and Mrs. W. 0, Goodwin and Mary. Mr. Earl Burtt, who conducts the Queensways nursing home here is still confined to South Huron. Hospital, Exeter, recov- ering from head 'injuries suffer- ed in a fail at the nursing home some weeks ago. Mr Walter Spencer, who pur- chased the Townsend property on Main street, had the house removed to the rear of the lot facing north. Mr. Spencer in- tends building a modern ranch home .on the site where the. house stood. Mrs. Catherine Redden who has been very poorly for the past two weeks is improving nicely. Mrs. C. Farquhar who has been in poor health is improv- ing nicely. Carrier Pigeon Found While enjoying a picnic with his wife and family at the beach north of St, Joseph's, Mr. John Henderson observed a carrier pigeon which hovered around several tinnes in search of food, Mr. Henderson caught the bird. which had a band on each leg. On a red rubber band on one leg was the number P.N. 277 and on a metal band on the other was 19268C.U.54. Mr. Henderson said the pigeon seemed tame but very hungry. AicEwan Travelling Basket To Bolster Fund The last meeting of the season until September of Aniber Re- bekah Lodge was held Wednes- day evening with Mrs. S. Rannie, N,G., in the chair. The Lodge has started a travelling basket for the summer months, proceeds to be donated to the C, P. & T. Fund. A report was received from Jessie Little, District Deputy president; from Brussels, of her year's work, and read at the meeting. Plans were outlined for the annual picnic in conjunction with the I.O.O.F., to be held at Hensall Park on Wednesday, June 26. September meeting will open with a pot luck lunch, Kinettes Plan For Bean F4stival Mrs. Jack Drysdale was host- , ess an Tuesday evening for the Kinettes. There was 100 percent attendance. Mrs. H. Knight, president, chaired the meeting. It was decided to call on shut- ins in the village this fall as a service project. Mrs. Conrad McRoberts was presented with a Kinette spoon honoring her and her infant son, Paul Barton. The group made plans to hold a pot luck supper at the sum- mer cottage of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Bonthron at Turnbull's Grove on .August 13. Further discussion was held in eonnectlon with the Ontario Bean Festival on Labor Day. Mrs. Bob Baker Jr. won the raffle prize. Visit Capitol, NY On Company Trip Mr. and Mrs. Laird Mickle left on „Monday for Toronto, from where they will fly on Tuesday to Washington and to New York later in the week. Mr. Mickle won the trip for the both of them from the Ralston Purina Company for sales in Pu- rina feeds in 1956. Other couples across Canada and United States will be taking the trip. They will be conducted on a tour of Washington and New York visiting many points of interest.
