The nail came in from the popular little town of ZURICH where teams have been .produced in hockey and baseball over the' last few years good enough to headline several: sportss pagess and even capture championships. LEROY O BRIEN, the. _ big chief of the HURON PETHINTEREDIa BASEBALL LEAGUE, called to reauind us that the HURON -PERTH LEAGUE will hold its annual all-star game in HENSALL. this year an July 10. To this •corner, a better, spot certainly couldn't have been chosen as BERT HORTON, ERNIE CHIP - CHASE and BILL SMITH have been having a tough time to keep a team operating in that town and w Leel it's only g fitting the "BIG" game should be played there. Last year, HENSALL COACH club failed to win a game, if we recall correctly, but nevertheless they bung on right to the end. Other teams in the league gave upbut sheer determination and fight kept the boys, playing. So far this year, the COACH club is playing ,50Q ball and is giving the other teams some- thing to think about. You can see why we go along with the Hensen deal. Letting back to the all-star game, LISTOWEL LEGIONNAIRES, of the SENIOR INTERCQUNTY BASEBALL LEAGUE, will provide the opposition for the Huron -Perth best. Now lust how the Huron -Perth dream team will bechosen is a question we have been unable to find a definite answer to but it does look as though the coach from each of the six teams will bring along 'two' ar three of his best players for the night's action, JOHNNY BELL is the big firecracker behind the LEGIONNAIRES in LISTOWEL while ALEX KVAS- NAK is the playing manager. ALEX, you'll remember, once starred with the WATERLOO TIGERS in centre - field when the league Was really tight, There's an- , other KVASNAK on the team by the name of MIKE. He is a brother to Alex. As this column is. written, the Legionnaires are holding down a four and seven ' record and are riding only three games out of first place, When BILI, HIGGS, of Hensall, and STEVE MITRO of Dashwood team up against the high -classed Listowel, club, there should be some lhteresting re- sults. Da you recall last year the H-$'ers tripped the LONDON MAJORS 7-2 in a seven inning affair? Could happen again and we hope it. does. Set this July 10 aside because, we know you're in for a real treat if Lyou like baseball at all. * * * * * ` * ' HORSE SENSE --A number of district horses shone in the OI TARIIO PACING DERBY held at P.ARKHILL last Wednesday, EXETER'&own- FLASHY HAL, owned by CHARLIE GODBOLT, ticked off the mile in 4:14 2/5 and 2:17 to trot off with a pair of firsts in the 2128 class. GEORGE RETHER notified us that the next wrestling card to be held in EXETER will take place on JULY 18, a Thursday night. The crowd was very disappointing the first tight it was held so I know all the wrestling fans, wrestlers and the local promoter will be looliing forward to a much larger crowd, If the mat ,game doesn't go over this time, it may be the last call for this town. HAROLD RIBSON has a card lined up Lucan way for next Wednesday. It's good to hear that our friend is working as hard as ever but we do hope he'll stay clear of the muscle men 'as we would hate toy see that favourite pipe of his squashed into tooth- picks.
