Arnold Circle and Home Helpers
of the same church on Thursday
afternoon.

ing of the Kinsmen Club Thurs-
day night. Frank Elwood sold
the luelty ticket and Deputy Go-
vernor, Less Parker, of Exeter

Plans for the Bean Festival

eluding each portion with prayer.
Mrs. Kenneth* Parkes and Mrs,
E. R. Pitt assisted in the wor-
ship. Special numbers included
a vocal' duett by Mrs. Elmer
Hayter and Mrs. Bob Peck of
Goshen; readings by Mrs. E.
Rowe, Hensel': musical number
by Mrs. Claire McBride and Mrs.
William Taylor on. the cornets,
and Mrs. Desjardine on the ac-
cordion, all of Zurieb; vocal
solo by Miss Clarke of Goshen
and a cornet solo by Mrs, Claire
McBride.
Over one hundred members
and guests wore present and
were welcomed by the president,
Mrs. John Armstrong, who chair-
ed the meeting.
Mrs. John Robinson extended
courtesy. iremarks to those tak-
ing part n the program; especial-
ly the guest speaker whom their
community love 'and respect and
are happy that she is coming
back to make her home in their
midst again. Mrs. Bruce Keys
was pianist for the meeting.
Birthday honors were extended
to Mrs. Elgin McKinley. 'Mrs. G.
Armstrong, of Hensall, and Mrs.
Delbert Geiger, Zurich, express-
ed. thanks on behalf, of their
groups at the conclusion of the
luncheon.
Institute, inspects

The lovely lawns at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Payne,
highway 4,,, south of Hensall,
proved an 'ideal setting for the
annual picnic of.'Hensall Wom-
en's ,Institute, held Monday with
an attendance• of over thirty
members, Vests and children.
Preceding the picnic the mem-
bers toured the new $100,000
public school. A picnic supper
was served from tables set up
on the lawn.
At the conclusion of supper
Mrs. Payne, president, conduct-
ed the business meeting. Mrs.
Gordon. Schwaltn was appointed
on the eommittee of Home Eco-
nomics and Health.
A discussion took place on the
W.I.. holiday at the O.A.C.,
Guelph, in. July. Flans were out-
lined and. committee appointed
for a bus trip. Mrs. S. Roobol.
Mrs. H. Horton., Mrs. N. Cook,
and Mrs. E. Rowe will form the
tourist committee
Discussion centered - around
the Bean Festival on Labor Day
and it was decided to have a
booth, with Mrs. G. Armstrong,
Mrs. W. TI. tephenson, Mrs. R.
Elgie and Mrs, L. Chapman in.
charge. Miss M. Ellis and Mrs.
George Armstrong gave splendid
reports of the Distriet annual

T. C. Coates and. Mrs. E.

the devotional assisted by the
president and Mrs. M. Dougall.
During the social hour a birth-
day cake decorated in pink and
green with WMS inscribed on it,
was cut by Mrs. James Wright,
Kippen.

the lunch assisted by Mrs. Ito-
