Dr. 'Erdmann Frenk, of Juli-
ette, 111., one of the speakers at
the .convention, said there is no
blueprint for church organiza-
tion. "The 12 apostles Christ
chose appeared incompetent but
Christ saw the potential insthese
simple men and. trained them.
These same 12 turned the world
upside dawn., The pastor is a
natural 'leader," he said.
Closing Sessions
Rev. John Schutt, Port Cil -
borne, addressed the closing
sessions with a , sermonette.
"What if there were no Christian..
church?" He said a world with-
out Christian love, without
Christian teaching' and without
its influence on womanhood and
childhood would be a world of
recurring nightmares. The
Christian church with its . full
complete redemption is the
benefactor of the world, "The
world needs more Christianity
than chemistry," emphasized
the speaker.
E, J. Shoemakeii, chairman of
the district stewardship 'commit-
tee. stressed every member
visitation as the best way of
informing the people of steward-
ship. and Christian .giving.
Miss •Jean Hoover, Toronto,

roganization committee.

Laymen Can Aid Pastor
Elaborating on the character
of laymen as auxiliaries to the
pastor, Dr. , Frenk said the con-
gregation that overloads its pas-
tor, is ,strangling itself. Ile re-
ported one congregation' had in-
creased. the numbers of elders
from three to thirty,
"Most institutions • .are the
length and shadow of .a man or
group •of men," Dr, Frenk said
in a second address.."Church
organizations are what their
leaders are." He said "moral
E qualifications are far more
im-
portant than legal qualifications.
C.haracter was first on the list.
The church officer must be filled
with the spirit of Christ and
apply himself with enthusiasm
intelligently. and tactfully, and
with conviction."
Rev',. Dr. Herman Harms, St.
Lours, proposed a new look . at
lay activity. If a pastor spoke
to a man about the church and
its gospel, he might think that's
the pastor's business. but if bis
neighbor spoke to him, he would
speak as a satisfied customer.
"He'd rather listen to'the satis-
fied customer than to an agent,"
said Dr. harms.

Dairy Month
— Continued from Page 8
ing across the nation.
Mention of June conjures up .
in most minds a host of pleasant
associations. Warm weather and
green grass are immediately
tied up with grazing cows and
the scenes of contentment which
seem to spread across the land
at that time, of year.
June is an excellent time of
year for urban and rural people
to once again consider their in-
terdependence. Canadians 'eat
something like 1;035'_. pounds of
dairy foods per capita every
year, This is an important part'
of the individual diet considering
either volume or the nutritional
aspects of the situation. BY their
generouspurchases •of dairy
foods, urban housewives enable
455,000 dairy farmers to spend
fllons of dollars each year for
the products of the factories
where urban husbands work.
There is real interdependence
here.
