GROUPS DISCUSS PROBLEMS OF AGED -When should
a man retire or be retired? Whose responsibility is it to
see that Canada's elderly people are 'cared for? What in -
,come is necessary to provide adequate food, lodging and
clothing for a retired person? Where does government
responsibility begin and end? These are questions dis-
cussed by members of unions, welfare services, govern-
ment agencies and church groups at the first Ontario
conference on aging held in Toronto. In support of the
idea that people do not necessarily reach•, retirement at
70 is the case of Norman McLeod, above, who at the age
of. 83 is still active as a physio therapist. He saw action
in the Sino-Japanese war of 1895, was "retired" from his
firm a few :month§ ago—but keeps on working by choice.
Medical reports at the conference suggested.' the day was
not far off when humans will live to be 120.1 : ,
