first recital in his new Lucan
studio above the old post office
last Friday night. Hawaiian,
Spanish guitar and banjo music
by London and Lucan publics
was enjoyed by all present.
Lucan and district pupils in-
cluded Leon Dewan, Gerald Ham-
ilton, Melville and Donna Light-
foot and Patsy Clayburn while
London pupils included Allan
Johnston, Shirley • Noyes, Ron
Earned, Janet Calcutt and Pal-
ma Nelson. To close the evening
Mr. Carling favored with several
numbers.

The junction of Highways 4
and 7 at Elginfield was the scene
of another spectacular crash
last Sunday sending Mr. and Mrs.
Sillanpas. of Wabnapital (near
Sudbury) and their 10 -yeas .old
son, Roy, to St, Joseph's Hospital
when their station wagon crash-
ed into a White Rose gasoline
tank truck.
The family ,car was destroyed
,and a front wheel torn from the
truck. Damage was estimated at
$2,000,

Hugh Morkin Dies
Hugh Morkin, 88, wh \died in
London April 20 lay at rest in
the C. Haskett and Son funeral
home till " 8,30 a.m. Tuesday
when Father J. C. Makesy sang
Solemn High Mass at St. Pat-
rick's church, Biddulph, at 9
a.m. Interment was kin the ad-
joining cemetery. Pallbearers
were Tom, Ken, Leo, Thos. J.
Morkin, Frank Kelly and Vin-
cent Nagle.
Son of the late Mr. and Mrs.
Thos. Morkin, he was born in
Biddulph Township, where he
farmed and pressed hay all his
life.
He was unmarried. His only
survivors are one sister, Mrs.
Arthur Mclhargey of London,
three brothers, Judge I. James
Morkin of Winnipeg, John, of
CClaresholme, Alta., and Thomas
of Lucan.

Suffer Burns
In Drill Fire
Lloyd Lynn of R.R. 1 Clande-
boye' received severe burns to
his face, neck, ears and hands
on Tuesday afternoon when his
clothing was ignited' by gasoline
he was using to clean fertilizer
from a steel drill. His sons,
Ralph and Gerald beat out the
Haines and were burned about
the hands.
•Mr. Lynn and Ralph were hos-
pitalized at St. Joseph's,. the
former is progressing favorably
and Ralph was able to leave the
hospital on Friday.
It wet fortunate that a coat
and rug were in a vehicle close
by -and were used to help com-
bat the flames.
