Discussion on the 4-H Bean
club was led by Bill Mickle and
films on a previous bean festi-
val parade, taken by Mrs. Wal-
ter Spencer, were shown Bill
Lee showed interesting slides of
his recent trip to Mexico. Clif-
ford Quance of the Exeter Kins-
man Club was 'a guest.
Wind Up Curling Season
A meeting of Hensall Curling
Club executive to wind up the
Clubs activities for 1957 was held
in the town hall. The General
Coach foursome skipped by E.
Chipchase won the Club Trophy
for the 1956-57. C. Wilkinson, H.
Parker, Bill Smith, were the
other members of the team.
It was decided to recommend
the ladies day of curling be
changed from Wednesday after-
noon to evening curling.

Bolt Of Lightning
Melts Light Bulb
During an electrical storm
which passed over here on Tues-
day afternoon a boltof lightning
passed through an open door of
the kitchen in the home of K. K.
Christian, manager of the Bank
of Montreal here, and went out
through the kitchen light melting
the bulb. The light in the ceiling
was covered with a glass shade
but the shade was not damaged
in any way, only.the bulb melted.
Mrs. Christian in a room adjoin-
ing the kitchen said she saw the
bolt of fire and thought the house.
was on fire. No other damage
was reported.
Couple Honored On Anniversary
Over forty relatives, neighbors
and friends from London, Ailsa
Craig, Seaforth,, Exeter, Clinton,
Zurich and Hensall, attended the
twenty-fifth wedding anniversary
of Mr. and Mrs. William Smale,
of Hensall, held at their home
Saturday evening.
' Mr. and Mrs. Smale were the
recipients of many lovely gifts
including a tri -light lamp, elec-
tric fry pan, electric coffee, perco-
lator, a smoker, a•TV chair, rest
rocker; a pair of wool blankets,
two brass wall plaques and
silverware. The presentations
were made by Mrs. Milton Wil-
lert, of Exeter, and Mrs. Frank
Cousins, of London, assisted by
Mrs: •Fred Peters, of Hensall.
Progressive euchre rounded out
the evening.

sults of the smorgasbord held
in the church Saturday evening.

petite. Hot potatoes, turkey, ham,
tongue, molded salmon,.green:
salads, vegetable and fruit jet-•
lied salads, large dishes' of as-
sorted .relishes, rolls with des-
sert including pastries and ice-
box puddings provided a choice
for the most fastidious epicure.
Many people :enjoyed the novelty
of making their own choice,
