Another chapter has been written into. the
NATIONAL HOCKEY LEAGUE record books as the
power -packed MONTREAL .CANADIEN regime has
salted away their second straight title in as many
- years, MILT SCHMIDT'S Bruins gave.as good. an .ac-
count of themselves as to be expected.. With so many
young players on the club that were getting their
first taste of the money .series, it could hardly be
expected that they would er could upset the heavy
talented Habs when the chips were on the line.
Speaking about the records, history has ,clefinite-
ly repeated itself. Exactly four years ago to the
night, these same two clubs were playing off in the
fifth game of the series for the Stanley Cup .and LES
CANADIENS left the ice as victors.
-
It would have possibly been good for hockey if
the Beantowners could have upset the applecart,. but
on the other hand it's nice to have the cup remain
in Canada where hockey is the national game.
It must be a great sigh of relief to -the DETROIT
BED. WING organization now that the title hasbeen
decided as we hear that GORDIE. HOWE'S golf game
wasn't too steady with the playoffs in full swing.
One thing we got a great deal of pleasure watch-
ing in the final .game at Montreal was the goals by
DON MARSHALL, FLOYD CURRY and DICKIE
I MOORE. For not being noted as scoring stars and
the way they came through while everyone was busy
checking BELIVEAU and the two RICHARDS, it just
goes to show you how much power the team packs
when the defensive stars start opening up .and scor-
ing.
"TOE" BLADE must have got more mileage' per
.stiek of .gumthan any other player in the series as
he chewed .consistently in -an effort to calm his
nerves.

FRANKY ANDERSON, the colourful negro play -
maker who performed with the EXETER MOHAWKS
• in the '53 and '54 hockey
seasons, has taken 111
and is a patient in Beck
Memorial Sanitarium in
London, FRANKY, who
loves a game of hockey
as much. as thenext per-
son, starred for the ST.
THOMAS ROYALS -this
season as many of you.
A, 'will recall. The aggre§-
sive opportunist f4 r e. d
three goals against us
one night in December
and drew a heart -warm
ing applause from the
Exeter audience which goes to show the good sports-
manship shown in this town.
The left winger, who always was a fan favourite
on and off the ice, will be in London San for a while
although lie isn't in. too bad of shape as he is walking
around.
As anyone know g who, has spent some time in
a hospital at one time or another, the days are long
and drawn out while the nights are longer, so let's
try to help speed things up for him. I'm sure Frankie
would appreciate any letters, postcards, magazines
= • or anything you had to offer him, Just send your
message to MR. FRANK ANDERSON, BECK MEMOR-
IAL SANITORIUM, LONDON TWP. What do you
say? Let's give a grand guy a big boost!

I've had some very hot comments on the way I
picked. the AMERICAN and NATIONAL LEAGUE
ball clubs to finish out. he season. The DETROIT
TIGER fans (where did they all come from?) have
besit jumping down my neck because, I put their
weak club in third place. Worst of all (and I must
say there's been plenty of laughs at this one) is my
choice of ST. LOUIS CARDS in first. Well friends,
let's face it. At least the Cards have started off the
season on the right foot by trouncing CINCINATTI
13-4: Now they have only 153 games left to•win!
As we promised in last week's edition to publish
any choice standings turned in, we must live up to
our word, so here they are. (P.S,: More to follow next
week.

GOLF COURSE BUSY!' We ran into three, real
enthusiastic golfers last week at the Bend. As much
as 1 hate to say that I haven't hit a ball this year,
these three fellows were practising on the eleventh
and fifteenth fairways and looked to be not too far
from "top:notch" form as they were hitting iron shots
like pros in the cool spring air. Just think what they
will be like when it warms up a little! ELMER. HAR-
ROWER, who at one time worked for Canada Packers
in Exeter and is now living in TI-TEDFORD, was one
of the three, while JACK LEVIE and E. Ve RICHARD -
SON', both of Parkhill, were matching' shot for shot.
FRIDAY NIGHT FIGHT ON TV—Holly Mims vs.
