California Casserole
2 lbs. veal round steals
33. cup flour
1 :tsp. paprika
?a cup shortening
i cups, drained small, cooke
onions
2 carts cream of chicken sou.
1 can water or onion. liquid
1 cup sour -cream
Alia flour and paprika an.
pound into neat. Cut into 2 -inch
cubes. Brown in shortening i
skillet. Transfer to 14x10 incl
dish .or 3 qt. casserole. Add cook
ed onions. Heat 1 can of soup
in skillet; add liquid. Bring to
a boil then pour over meat. Bake
uncovered in moderate oven
(350°) for about. 45. minutes or
until meat is tender. Top with
dumplings made from the fol-
lowing recipe. Increase oven
heat to 425° and bake far 20.
25 minutes until .dumplings are
golden brown.
Butter Crumb Dumplings
2 cups sifted pastry flour
4 tsps, double acting baking'
powder
3i tsp. salt ,
1 tsp. poultry dressing
1 Tbsp, poppy seeds (optional)
1 tsp. onion salt
14 cup salad oil
1 cup diluted evaporatedimilk
?•�r cup melted butter
1 cup bread crumbs.
Sift flour, baking powder, salt
and poultry seasoning into bowl.
Add seeds and onion salt, Blend
in oil and milk. Stir until just
moistened, Combine butter and
bread crumbs. Drop rounded
tablespoons of dough into crumb
mixture to coat dumplings,.
Serve with sauce made from
heating one can of soup and the
sour cream just to the boiling.

was one of the highlights of the
social season.
The Toronto Star Reports:
"In a ceremony of Beth Shol
oxn synagogue, Marian Joseph
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harr
Joseph, exchanged marriage
vows with Leon Sherman, son of
Mr, and Mrs. Charles M. Sher-
man. Rabbi David Monson offi-
ciated. ' .
Given in marriage by her par-
ents, the bride wore a gown of
silk organza with the bouffant
skirt falling into a sweep train.
Her fitted bodice had a scooped
neckline and long sleeves and
was scattered with seed pearls.
Her mother of pearl Juliet 'head-
piece held her fingertip veil and
she carried white orchids on a
white Bible.
Maid of honor was Toba Gard-
ner, and bridesmaids were Susan
Poteck and Mildred Hoffman,
They wore pale blue silk organza
with matching picture hats and
carried 'pink and white bouffa
bouquets. •Groomsman for his
brother was Hy Sherman and
ushers were Sam Isacovic's, Phil
Rubinoff, Sonny Harrison, Frank
Green,- 1'iary Birstock and Bern-
ard Draft. Receiving at View -
mount hall, the bride's mother
wore pale blue and silver bro-
cade with a white orchid cor-
sage. The groom's mother as-
sisted in pale blue brocade with
white orchids."
Eight ladies in Centralia are
organizing a kitchen shower for
Mrs, Gerald Isaac, R.R. 1, Clan-
deboye, whose .home was de-
stroyed by fire Saturday morn-
ing,

o tion with an afternoon tea from
three to 4.30 in Centralia United

Mrs. Ken Greb, one of the or-
ganizers, said everyone is wel-
come to donate kitchen articles.

speaker at the Easter meeting
of Main Street United Church
W,A, and W.M.S. on Thursday
afternoon.
Mrs. Rundle told the legend
of the Easter Lily. and quoted a
poem "The Crucifixion." She
presented the challenge "Do we
make the best use of our tal-
ents?" saying "We all have a
responsibility and many oppor-
tunities today to use our talents."

Mrs, John Fitzpatrick, 79,
passed away at her home, 'Main
St, on Sunday following a few
days illness.
The former Annie Margaret
Berry, she was born in Hay
Township. She was married in .
Seaforth to John Fitzpatrick.
They lived in Manitoba for a
time, Mr. Fitzpatrick died at
Whitby. The deceased came to
Exeter in 1941.
She . was a member of the
United Church;
She is survived by one sister,

A private funeral service was
conducted by Rev. H. J. Snell
from the Hopper -Hockey funeral
home on Tuesday with inter-
ment in Exeter cemetery,
